Doesn't andrew's deck eliminate the foldy? From pictures ive seen he has the headtube welded straight on to the deck. But it still sounds like a good idea and if its going to be good then, go for it.

There are literally thousands of types of bearings. Not sure what the size is for scooters or skateboards though.
