too slow of a shutter speed. for action shots you are going to want to shoot at a shutter of at least 1/500th of a second. shoot on manual and set the shutter and aperture so oyu have a shutter of 1/500th or more, youre probably gonna want to go as high as you can

turning on flash will most likely slow the shutter speed !grr

Did you just post what i think you did...?
Flash and shutter speed have nothing to do with each other...
Just raise the shutter a few steps, starting at about 1/320.
If you're under-exposing, open the aperature more, by going to a lower f/number
If that fails, bump the iso up to about 200/400.

Thanks, and why does it make the photos so dark? Is there anyway to prevent that?

the higher the shutter speed the less light the camera is letting in, so when you lower it, the pictures will be brighter but will have that blur on it
so when its really nice and sunny out, take advantage of that and use a high shutter speed

and yeah get flashes i guess

umm yes they do. Depending on your flash sync speed (1/250, 1/500) that's the highest shutter speed you will be able to use with flash. So in that aspect they do have something to do with each other.

i started typing a wall of text to help with all your guyses questions, but then it occurred to me that i was pretty much typing a guide to basic photography and camera controls. go to a library/bookstore and get a book on it or something. it will save me the trouble of making a wall of text and it will be better written.
