Hello everyone,

I haven't posted in quite some time. I have a few things on my mind (i'm sitting in the San Antonio airport with two hours of free time and a lot of thoughts). So i'm going to share them in a huge random rant.

First off, I love that everyone here scooters. I've been scootering for 10 years now and it's just amazing to know the sport has caught on a bit. It's so fun. But. GET A COLLEGE EDUCATION OR A SPECIALIZED SKILL. OR if you are ambitious try to start a business. I am seeing so many people go down the path of trying to make scootering their profession...it's very unlikely that will happen! Be realistic with your goals...follow your dreams for sure. But be level headed. Scootering will have money involved, but when you try to make it your career alot it will become about the money. MONEY = NECESSARY. and man...this sport is all about fun, passion and progression. I DON'T like that more and more of our riders are trying to support themselves off of it. Scootering should be that outlet away from all stresses. I love Jake Hershey, but seeing that inside post advertising him for "announcing" really made me furious. Announcing shouldn't be a job. It should be your way of saying I LOVE SCOOTERS AND ALL YOU PEOPLE RIDING THEM. Man i could rant about this. DONT FOLLOW EVERYTHING YOU READ UNLESS YOU HAVE MET THE PERSON, OR HAVE BEEN AFFECTED PERSONALLY. Steven T. is the only person i will trust on most issues and i still try not to judge riders or companies until i personally know them and know what's up. Encouarge all scooter bretheren. Put time out for them. Set a good example for them. Real talk with them. WE ARE A COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE WHO LOVE SCOOTERS! No need for any hatred or dislike. I LOVE ZIG SHORT! On that note, he has made scooters his career, and yes, now he has to worry about making paper and keeping a passion...and it seems to have changed the way he is. But lets stop hating on him for whoever is. STOP HEEL DRAGGING. don't annoy people about it but give them friendly reminders. id rather see a sick air to disaster (no heels) than a 20 set feeble down a hubba that squeaks. I am guilty of this all the time i'm sure. Support the rider based companies. They, at the very least, aren't ONLY concerned with money. Although they kind of have to to make sure they have capital and can finance themselves with profit throughout their journey. And support their own living needs. Etc. Do your research on companies. But mostly guys, have fun! Be open minded. Give everyone a chance. Ride until you can't...im 22 now and the past two weeks i have ridden SO much and i miss the days SO MUCH where i had no responsibilities and could ride all day every day. Times are only going to get more busy as i get older as well. And i know this. Also don't conform with riding. Do what you like. TRY to have a large variety (who knows, once you learn that one trick you never do, you may LOVE it). WE GOTTA START MAKING VIDEOS MORE PERSONAL AND SPECIAL. They used to have emotion, feeling and attachment connected to them. Now most of them mesh together. Okay my flight is leaving. I love you guys at SR. I will be back in the scene once my ankle heals up (i broke it a few days ago) and i will have big things in store once i get a full time job and pull in them 6 figured. SCOOTERS are my anti depressant and anti drug and i can never thank them enough! i hope all of you kids appreciate them in the same manner. Okay that's all, MATT OGLE OUT mmmmmmm

Haha people think they can actually make riding a job? Hahaha it's just a hobby. I love it, I love the sport and all, but even if you're going to start your own compaby you need to learn some metalworking basics from school.

I think there are going to be more and more people who can make a living from riding in the next few years. Look at other sports who all have professional sponsored athletes.

BenJ Friant is now a full time staff member at micro, making a living from what he does. I can't speak for any other companies but I don't believe he's the only one.

Also Yes to Matt Ogle apart from that and the Jake Hershey thing. Guy's got to make a living and there's full time announcers/commentators for every other sport if he's good at what he does let him earn money for doing it.

Logan Fuller got paid hella at the street jam, running around grabbing coins and shit. It was actually hilarious.

But there is money, comps and street jams do pay out. If you have another job, you could be fine. Although nothing is wrong with getting educated.

Scooters are my anti-depressant too but I have plenty of better drugs than riding ;). But Matt, I was actually just about to post this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9b_-YIlYtc in the "Old SR Thread". This video makes me smile with nostalgia whenever I watch it. Also, that video introduced me to Modest Mouse, which are probably in my top three favorite bands ever. And I thank you for that =). And have you talked to Dan lately?

Yes there is a chance to make money from competitions but very slight chance, i was talking to Dakota one day and he actually spends more money going to the competitions than he does making money.

Agree with pretty much everything here, especially the NO HEELDRAG part haha. Im attending college and going to end up taking over my dads auto body shops so in the future i will be making a lot of money. Then i will be in the perfect position to make my own scooter company and i really want to make the best most affordable parts possible. I dont plan on making a living off riding, our sport isn't at that level at all. The riders in other sports have big name endorsements from companies that have nothing to do with sports at all. Like Dennis Enarson and Rockstar/Matador or Matt Hoffman with jones soda and Target.

Only thing i don't get is why Jake Hersey's announcement post on ISB would anger you. I mean getting paid to do what you love to do is everybody's dream.
