About drugs and the way things work around here

For those of you who haven't seen the straight edge thread yet, go check it out in discuss anything and read my post right before it was locked. Why is it that everytime any intelligent thread is started on religion/politics/drugs its always locked? Is it because SR is too immature? Fuck that, ban the people that can't be respectful. Is it because of children? If they're able to get on SR, they're able to find 4chan and pornhub as well. Why can't we have a subforum where there is actual intelligent conversation among the crowd that wants to partake in it? I'm sick of seeing 8 page threads about what you ate for breakfast and stupid bullshit like that. There's so much potential among the older, smarter crowd here for good conversation, why the hell can't we have it?

Its such a sketchy subject. I don't really mind it on here, but than again, theres a shitt load of kids on here... i like to try to keep the site as "pg" rated as possible. People running companies and shit come on here so, i don't think it shows a good image if we are arguing about drugs and stuff you know?

I dont mind it on here either. but with political voting type thread suchs as weed is or isn't a drug. sketchy and touchy. some people dont understand how to be civil and it can result in stupid pointless drama. blame the majority. cause majority rules ha. gay i know <3

Go to discuss anything, we have a 56 page thread about guys hooking up with girls and a two page thread about some kid's green shit just on the first page. This site is by no means pg, and I know that me and basically all moderators/members cuss and don't follow that rule. It just seems if we're going to keep it clean we'd either have to go all the way or basically have no rules as far as content whatsoever (other than the obvious no porn, no fighting, no violent threats etc). It seems like we could have a subforum called like Unconventional Stuff or something, and set up separate rules for it. If people break the rules, then they're banned, simple as that. I fucking love this community and I'd love to have good conversation on here. I'm not trying to be an asshole or anything at all to you brian so if I seem like one i apologize, i just don't quite understand why we can't respectfully talk about things on here. Skateperception and all the bike forums basically let anything go and those are the huge forums where I'm sure influential people and companies in the sport visit. If a company was to visit here and see a huge thread talking about psychoactives or other issues they'd be less worried than if they saw a 56 page thread where people are high fiving each other over the internet for fucking three girls in one night.

To nooner, that's a good point but I don't think it has to be that way. With moderation (which if a sub-forum was made, I will moderate it on a day to day basis), it could be extremely successful.

as Dustin said, don't blame us...blame the majority of our sport..which happens to be immature little kids. Who don't KNOW how to have an intelligent/respectful debate or discussion. Also as Brian said, company owners come onto SR, our sport is still trying to grow right now. Unlike, Skating, or Bmx...where they can make forums and talk about whatever they want, with no fear of their sport being set back. However, our sport is different..That one company owner that could possibly really help the sport, might come onto SR hop into the wrong thread about whatever subject, and decide he doesn't want to be a part of the sport...you know?

I am all for having debates on here, about any subject...but there needs to be a place made for it. And the rules need to be clear that anyone in the thread blatantly insulting someone, or being disrespectful or overall immature...will be banned no ifs ands or buts.

We can discuss this further once the new site and forum are released. I am not opposed but there will have to be age requirements for entering and it will have to be a heavily controlled environment. It is a touchy subject so if it causes any controversy it will have to be immediately removed. If SR was only a forum I wouldn't care but it is also my business and at this point my career so anything that interferes with that cannot be on here.
