About to Upgrade from 50cc to 150cc (what should I be aware of?)

Hello everybody,

This will be my first post on this forum. And the purpose of my post is that I am a fairly new scooter-er (if that's a word) and I purchased a 50cc about 4 months ago and have been riding it really well.

However, riding uphill and accelerating from stopped positions at red lights is becoming a little bit of a concern for me.

What happens is I can get a top speed of about 25-30 Going up hill but it takes about half a minute to work up to that. Secondly I cannot match the speed of cars when going from stop to go at red lights, that takes me about 15-20 seconds to get to my top speed even on flat land.

So, I decided to put a down payment on a new scooter a couple weeks ago and it will be paid off in full within the next 3 weeks.

I decided this relatively quickly because of the Minor-ish issues described above. Simply put, I will feel much much safer being able to match the acceleration speed of most vehicles when going from a complete stop at a red light, and also going up hill. I understand my 150cc can get 45 up hill, which will definitely match the speed of city traffic. Unless the person is speeding like a fool.

What I wanted to ask is, since I am theoretically getting three times as much power as I have been thus far use to, what should I be aware of with my transitioning from 50cc's to 150cc's?

My new scooter will be about 50 pounds heavier than my current one, slightly bulkier and a lot cooler looking.

But of course, I cannot drive it like I am driving a 50cc scooter even though most of the same principles will be the same.

What should I expect to 'feel' different to me? How should I handle it differently than my current scooter when I first start riding it, till I become use to it?

Thanks, I hope this post makes sense.

And nice to meet you all!

You guys should change the forum name to "Low powered sidewalk scooter resource".

To avoid confusion.

Anyway, have a nice weekend and scoot on!
