All things dye.

Show off your skills of dye, discuss methods of what you can dye or how to get a certain affect, or share sites and pictures about different dye creations. :)

These are the only pics of my dye work I've got so far. Will update.

Following 3 wheels were done with liquid RIT dye, using PVA wood glue to mask.

This GM was in dye overnight. Dye only penetrates the wheel a certain amount. It will wear off, but if it had a soak for over 5 hours it won't wear through to the original color for a few months.

My Eagle was only in dye for little over an hour, and after not even a week it's already worn off the dye affected urethane. If you want your color to last, keep it in for over 5 hours.

RIT from AUS:

A UK site which sells powder RIT dye, and shows how to dye skate boots. Maybe this will work with barends and other plastic scooter parts?

A place to buy AM dye, SHOULD work on wheels if it works on plastics.

TINTEX dyes AUS. Maybe these will work?

You cannot dye BMX grips.

ABOUT BLEACHING:
Anything that could penetrate the cured urethane to remove the pigment would literally melt or destroy the wheel.

Here's an Australian dye company that sells a LOT of colours and dye types. Not sure if they'll work on urethane or not. If I can get some more white urethane wheels in the future I'll give them a shot.

Go for it. Couldn't hurt. :)

It doesnt matter how long you have it in, it matters how hot it is: For best results boil water to a pretty high temp, this makes the wheel much more vulnerable to get dye in deep
