An article about scooters in the Wall Street Journal

hahahahhah the fucking mad skateboard kid at the end made my day. I love how this article basically labels skateboarders as stuck up pricks, because thats what a lot of them are. they don't realize that the original skateboarding movement was them rebelling against the jocks at school, and now they've turned into the jocks.

i dont care if he was serious, if he wasnt it was a stupid post anyway, im tired of people trying to tell people what they should ride, we ride scooters, not boards or bikes, we're not trying to be cool so stop trying to make it about that, we ride for fun and thats that.

Ben its nice having you back on SR.
But I don't really think this matters aside from the people in charge in charge of city recreation(I.e. skateparks etc) seeing this, and I know it has made a difference, even if it's just near my area. But, McGinnis park, one of my locals, has seen the need for a separate place more designed for scooters, and so as soon as they have the funds, they are building a scooter specific park, which I think is a huge step forward.

haha its not about skateboards and scooters its the simple fact that if scooters dont get a place to ride we resort to riding street, which is often doesnt go over well with the higher ups, so you are setting up a bunch of 15 year olds to get in trouble with the law when they could easily open the skatepark up, thats my fucking tax dollars at work, i wanna use it!

shut the fuck up dickhead, you wanna know why we ride scooters? because we have fun riding them. Whether that be street, park, flat, or whatever the fuck you want. We don't ride to be cool or look cool at all, if that was the case we'd all be riding boards or bikes.

so in turn, your an ass.
*In the voice of Drake from Drake and Josh* "Woah, just take it easy man." And did you really think I was serious? Haha, I'm sorry if I offended you or anyone else but it was a COMPLETE joke.

your location should say connecticunt, more like. Jk dood. Its cool you're from connecticut.

It's pretty funny about this whole skater-scooter thing. I think 5 years ago, it was pretty popular for kids to get into skating around their early teens, and now it just happens that the fad is scootering (not diminishing from anyone's personal enjoyment they get out of the sport), which is kinda frustrating for skaters because their culture and sport is less and less admired, respected, and understood by a younger crowd.

As far as anti-scooters at skatepark reasoning goes, i think it's kinda stupid to direct the blame towards 'scooters' rather than at people uneducated in skatepark etiquette in general. Stupid little skater kids used to get in everyone's way, but nowadays they're riding scooters. It's annoying to see the vehicle take the blame, rather than the people (yeah you, you little fucking idiots)

Connecticut isn't really overrun by scooters though only like Milford and Bristol i believe.

I know this isn't true for all cases, but in a lot of others it is. RESPECT GAINS RESPECT. skaters are douchebags, but the fact that a lot of little scooter kids dont follow skatepark etiquette doesn't help. I've went tons of parks and only rarely do I get shit from skaters or bikers, etc, and in no case was I ever kicked out, even if the park was strictly against scooters. be respectful and dont snake people. Its hard to expect respect when there's not a lot that's given by the scooter community

Most of the time Respect gains respect is the case though. Don't give them a reason to be a twat and normally they won't.

Also guys lets keep it civil in here.
