pop punk is good there is alot of talent involved but just punk is disgusting imo its all a bunch of talentless bullshit

Pop punk involves the same chords as "regular" punk, mostly powerchords.

And I mean pop punk like The Queers, Teenage Bottlerocket, Screeching Weasel, and The Riverdales. Not like, fucking Fall Out Boy or some shit like that. That's just plain pop.

here is punk in a nutshell:

-stick a safety pin through your nose
-dye your hair pink
-learn 3 chords
-yell awful lyrics with an awful voice

punk is a total anti-attitude to music. unless you can truly play, truly sing, then you dont deserve to be on stage.
if you knew this kid, you would realize how completely wrong that statement is.
pink is among the colors, but his hair usually isnt jst one color (at least not for more than a few days)

Mainstream pop-punk isn't what I had in mind, bands like those just register as plain pop to me.

but today pop punk has come to mean set your goals, four year strong, the wonder years and yeah, blink-182

you might not it, but genre's evolve. bands like set your goals took the music of the queers and screeching weasel and blended it with melodic hardcore from the early 90s (gorilla biscuits, CIV, and lifetime) and today's pop punk was born.

I never said it wasn't pop-punk, I said to me it doesn't register as such, though I agree with you, Genres always change, Four Year Strong, The Wonder Years, etc. etc. Will never register as geniune pop-punk to me.

Unrelated- Is anyone going to Punk Island this year?

I hate The Casualties, MCR is not punk, I don't know if I could get any more sarcastic about liking them.
