Mines in the mail, should be here in a couple days, i'll give you guys my input when I get it.
Video was 20 minutes man. We released it because the footage was getting old, and its still a pretty decent video. The oldest stuff in there was the Ohio part, and i didn't wanna just trash it because there is some pretty sweet stuff in there. 80% of the rest of the footage is from this summer, so how can it be outdated? Go make a presentable DVD in 1 day so you can get a half decent video out to the riders. There was nothing wrong with the editing, its clean and does what its needs to do, nothing flashy, this isn't fully flared, the video is about the riding anyway. Your not pleased with either so don't be a dead beat.Dylan said:2 or 3 years of work for a 10 minute video?
this video really let me down editing especially
it reminded me of rvms because the riding was so out dated
just like release mckeens part online or something i feel bad he had to save his footage for this dvd
his ender had the absolute worst angle ever it looked like a 5 stair
It was alot easier to please people with footage back then, so you could put more filler in. Still a 20 minute video, I think thats an alright length, this is video journal 9, not the TPC DVD.Steven T said:Eeek. Dylan made it sound pretty harsh. I gotta admit it gets annoying hearing about big videos, only to have them be 10-15 min long. Longer videos, old school shiit like NBS4, and even the SCSK video are what i like to see. But im still anticipating seeing this video...to many good riders to ignore.
i'd like it if you wait a little for the video to get around first before you do that please.mattmckeen said:i hope it doesnt bother you if i re-edit and put the part with all my clips in it and post it up on here.
this is what i like to hearJackson Manzie said:Already bought one at SD3 biaaaaaaaaatches.
I strongly advise buying it. It is personally, the most amzingly legitimate video I have ever seen. It made me actually feel like scooters could be absolutely accepted and sick. It made me feel like I was ACTUALLY watching a real skate video.
It was Video Journal 9, not the DVD i was hyping up, i wanted to get the footage out that we had sitting around from the summer and past year. I had too much trouble and spent alot of time trying to get a menu together for it. The computer i wanted to make the menu with wouldn't run adobe encore, so i used some junk program to make a menu. Then i went to the guys house to get it duplicated and we tried to make a menu there, had an alright one going, but the DVD audio kept going off sync by like 2 seconds, we tried like 30 things to fix it but couldn't get it to work. I settled to have no menu and have the audio on sync. The video is there, thats what matters. All of the parts were edited in like 2 days, not at separate times, it was a rush job i know. I really wanted to use the glitched footage because i liked the shots, the only glitched footage i can think of right now is the opening shot with the pidgin and i couldn't do anything about it. I lent my camera to Caseys friend for a week and got it back and didnt clean the heads, its my fault.the_SD_local said:As far as scooter videos go, this is one of the best...
BUT
...with the amount of time it was in the works and the amount of hype and expectations surrounding it it was a pretty big let down. It was way too short and I was pretty disappointed to see that McKeen was the only person with an actual part. I thought the first montage with all you guys was just the intro to the video then all of a sudden it was McKeens part then it was over. You could tell that portions of the video were edited at completely different times because of the inconsistencies. I also REALLY hated that you used footy with glitches in it, that is like a pet peeve of mine. The titles, text and "DVD menu" were all pretty weak too.
Sorry if this is not the response you wanted to hear from me but if you are trying to make a career out of video work then you have to be open to criticism.
I never said it was a professional video, or to be compared to a skate dvd. THIS WAS A LAST MINUTE THING TO HAVE A VIDEO RELEASED AT SD3, VIDEO JOURNAL 9, NOT THE PHILLY CREW DVD. I already know the editing isn't flash WOO in your face shit, its clean, it works, its flows. I didn't even film HALF of this DVD, majority of it is John Mattes' footage, Mckeens filmer (that films for Zero and Fallen), Casey, Dan and a few others, so don't be ragging on me for the filming. This video was about the riding.Shelby Grimnes said:I liked the riding a lot, everyone killed it in the video. But I was disappointed in how it was filmed and edited. I know you have a very nice camera Brain, but it looks like your not using its full potential, I know filmers with the same camera and I see better stuff from them. Mckeens last trick was filmed horribly, you can't really tell how huge that gap this, you could of easily filmed it from a better angle regardless of where the cops were. The editing was good for the way it was rushed. I think you should of waiting to release a better filmed and edited video because a lot of people are probably bummed on the way this came out. This is a really good scooter video but its not like professional skate video status like Jackson said. If this is how the real video is going to be like then I probably won't go out of my way to buy it. Like Andrew said if you want to make a career out of video work you got to be open to criticism.

Not enough fisheye right?
I forgot to had in my comment that I noticed that you weren't filming in the video. Sorry. I know it was last minute I said that in my comment too.Brian Boston said:I never said it was a professional video, or to be compared to a skate dvd. And just to note, i don't plan on my main career to be with filming and non-linear editing for your guys information, getting a job in that area is a bitch unless you love weddings! I plan on looking for a job in linear editing/broadcasting when i am done school and stuff, with the news or something along those lines.
