Ok guys. Sydney skater here. I noticed a lot of threads here were on the skaters' collective attitudes towards scooter riders, being let into parks and whatnot. So here's the deal. Any questions, just ask.

As in, why do I want questions or why do the majority of skaters say scooters are a joke?

why are u even posting here?

Because I'm eshays. Nah I just wanted to see the other side of the whole debate and maybe get a decent answer instead of having the dumb arse scooter stereotype reinforced by certain individuals.

who doesnt smoke weed now a days, To be honest Frodo, the only people that really like skaters are skaters themselve, it basicly goes for everything, Scooters really only like scooters and bikes only really like bikes, If you ask the majority of public most would probobly rather see a scooter rider then a skater, because most skaters think they are the maddest cunts going. Really just need to get over themselves :)

and what debate? We choose to ride scooters because we find it fun, why do you skate? maybe for fun? not to sure but most do it just to fit in.

do they smoke weed?

That's the first actual question. I smoke weed only at parties and stuff. ie: I don't go out and buy weed to smoke, but I chip in when my friends are smoking. And no more of my friends who skate smoke weed than those who don't.

You raise a valid point mate, about each sport only liking their own riders. However, skating has been a spectator sport for much longer than scooting (X games, Dew tour, skate videos). They all pre-date the public watching scooter riders. Also, I think their rapid rise in popularity has been due to how relatively easy it is to learn "awesome tricks", as anyone who can backflip is considered a god to so many little kids. Things like double frontflips have been done on a scooter and because it is a trick known by the public (most of the public only knows kickflips and 900s, yet don't see the complexity in back noseblunts).

I guess everyone is pretty stereotyped to hate each other, but i have heaps of friends who skate and ride BMX? Most skaters are mad chill and most BMX are chill too, it's just occasionally you get dicks on both sides who for some reason are extremely bothered with what these other people are doing.

thats where skating and scootering are somewhat similar. i personally cant tell the difference between a 360 flip and a popshuvit. most people think that all scooter tricks look the same.

as for the "fitting in" part, thats not always true. my friend, who is even more of a nerd than i am (and im a huge nerd) used to skateboard, and was better than a lot of the skaters that fit the typical "skater" stereotype. but he quit because almost none of the other people at the skatepark liked him.

the main reason i started scootering was because there was no pre-set stereotype, and i could just be myself. (e.g. bringing homework to the skatepark.)

Lol than you need to open your eyes :p Skate tricks all look very different, I could name any trick you did.

Also lol this is a stupid thread, like half the people on this forum skate to some extent, I still do alot. You can't answer our questions on behalf of the entire skateboarding community.

So what's the problem with scooter riders being let into skateparks again? I never got that one. It is an extreme sport is it not? And it should be allowed equal rights to skateboarding, inline, and BMX, all of which are extreme sports that are allowed in most skateparks right?
