truthfully, i have been bmxing a bit longer than i have been scootering, and right now i have been riding my bike a lot more than my scooter. I knew it would stir up controversey, but i think scooters should recieve the recognition they deserve. half of those kids on there posting are most likely 12 and can hardly hop a bike so i wouldnt worry about all the hate, lets just hop they dont start posting on here....

I bet your garbage on a bike. Not bring a dick just assuming because any legit Bmx kid would call that a whip

Our company helps out a BMX guy, he can backflip, 720, truckdriver, alley oop turndown and is scary close to landing a double back... among other things. So he's "ok".

One look at the video, he said "haha, hey, it's a briflip on a bike".

Dude, whether it's a inverted tailwhip, a vertical whip, stratflip or briflip, to deny it's essentially the same motion as scooter riders do for a briflip, and that scooters did it first... is simply mis-placed pride and/or cockiness. Let it slide, accept there are other sports and realize we can all learn from each other than hate on each other.

My favorite trick is a BMX trick... nothing wrong it. So I see it can be reversed, BMX can learn from scooters too.

thanks for backing me up j dub, i am actually not "garbage" on a bmx and having been riding for about five years. just because i'm giving credit to the scooter communinty doesnt mean i have to be bad on a bike. If you look at that second clip, you can clearly tell its not a tailwhip and any valid bmxer should know that.

You guys are all fucking idiots on there trying to defend the 'briflip' name. Who gives a fuck what they call it. You sound like a bunch of girls, you kind of make me embaressed to ride a scooter.

Well Mr. Boston I personally don't care what they call it. Stratflip, inverted flip... etc. I am simply more concerned in the lack of respect going on between the bike and scoot world. You may not care what people think of scooters as you are just a guy who does his own thing, throws down his own stuff and live and let live. We are a company, we are interested in this INDUSTRY, how it is perceived, and want to make sure it doesn't get a bad name for really no reason.

So what we have is a new BMX trick that came out, and it's actually something people have been doing on scooters for a few years (and yes, I do realize you were the first, but it really has nothing to do with this discussion). So a few guys popped in and were like "hey cool man! That's tight, we've done those on scooters, how'd you do that on a bike?" and soon enough, mud slinging started and now it's "scooters are ghey and we want nothing to do with them". That opinion, is not exactly great for our industry or any industry. If you want to truly push a sport, you have to be open minded and not ignore other similiar sports.

I come from a motocross background, and MX freestyle is going leaps and bounds further than ever, you want to know why? Adrenaline, Red Bull and WATCHING BMX RIDERS. How do you think Pastrana learned to backflip? He did it on a 20" first, then a 26", then a pitbike and his 250. HE LEARNED from another sport and that's what I'd LOVE to see happen within the "park" industry. Skateboarders, scooter riders and BMX guys need TO START GETTING ALONG. If you're so closed minded and think you're better than another sport, you are truly, truly missing out.

So THAT is what really bugs me about this whole deal, another sport has borrowed a trick and are ridiculing the originators of it. I see it as... childish.

They are claiming that Mirra did the 'vertical tailwhip' back in like 2001 and want me to admit that I didn't invent the briflip...

i was thinking the same thing. ya'll have no respect for the guy who started this trick, all you care about is "gettin recognized" when really it is just embarrassing and setting us back even more. respect is not given, it's earned. everyone of you going on to a BMX WEBSITE saying scooters deserve respect and this is what the trick is called are idiots. you think we would put up with a biker/skater/blader coming in here telling all of us what is what and to respect them?? HELL NO. it's so obvious why this stuff goes down all the time, YOU START IT. "i feel like i am taking crazy pills or something."

Right? If they wanna go and call it a vertical tailwhip go ahead. We recognized it on scooters as a briflip and its gonna stay that way, no one is forcing it on them to call it a briflip, I didn't ask for credit.

exactly, you deserve the credit in this sport for that trick, but you didn't do it on a bike, and now all these kids are trying to tell bikers that. it's just dumb. it's like the two steps forward one step back quote, like yeah we have some amazing new companies out blowing our minds with new products or one of our riders was on nitro circus but then stuff like this happens and all of our successes go down the drain.

And I love how Matt Pate apologized for me... because i really need an apology for being neutral on a subject. He should be apologizing for the kids that are calling it a briflip making themselves look like asses, atleast my posts are mature and state a point that the argument is fucking retarded.

edit: Last post I want to make, but i might end up replying to more if kids are gonna post up bullshit that doesn't make sense. Im over them being stubborn

We recognize the trick as a briflip on scooters. No one is asking or forcing anyone to call it a briflip on a bike, call it whatever you want. This is the stupidest argument I’ve ever saw. The scooter kids calling it a briflip are just hungry for recognition. We are doing 2 different sports. Who the fuckkkk caresssss.

What do you call a tailwhip rewind on a bike? On a scooter its when you whip, than kick the deck back into an opposite tailwhip. How about a fingerwhip? When you hit the deck of the scooter whip your hand to make it tailwhip? I’m sure bikes did those first also. Are you gonna call us out for calling them something different also?

Get my point? Calling us out on it isn’t going to change shit.

EVERYBODY LEAVE COMMENTS SAYING THIS IS A BRIFLIP NOT A TAILWHIP!!! hahaha they are getting pissed

EDIT: i'm posting soooo much with all these different names and all these guys are getting soooo pisssed its hillarious

This is part of the reason scooters are part hated on, because others think were just annoying little immature shits. Because your/we are annoying them, see, thats how BMXers get the image of us. Its shit because the majority of us are actualy like that.

What douche bags, just because we prefer riding a scooter they find it appropriate to talk all this shit. Coedie Donovan needs to show some of them up on a bike or scoot haha.
