Okay so i was riding today, only to realize my headset was clicking. i looked at it and the dust cover was almost completely snapped off. can u run a stock headset without the dust cover??

you dont need really it. if you want one, find a metal one. they are made of metal on a lot of scooters, and you probably have one somewhere. look around.

yea i know. but with a stock headset, it moves the bearing cage around like the locknut is too small to cover the whole thing.

just take the plastic ring part off of the lower lock nut thing and use both normally
