Yes we live in the uk

I've found the black label pro lo, is that one you mean? Other than being better value, how does it differ from the MGP Nitro Extreme?

kyle - cheers for your help, I'll get him to have at look at those too. In an ideal world I was hoping to spend up to £175 so he can have other presents for his birthday rather than just the scooter, but if he wants the more expensive one that's up to him I guess.

grant - was your link for the rawbena?

mgp is an evil company that does not care about the scooter scene
do not support them

i would say mgp, its kinda heavy but for the price you get a great scooter. even before i put other parts onto it i loved the scooter plus they look very clean and nice. one thing i would do if you get any deck is put a flex fender onto it, most kids who start to ride use the break alot and it makes it sound like shit and everyone hates that sound, so i would say get a mgp nitro. plus later on if he doesnt like something about the deck he can trade it and get a lighter deck witch comeing from a heavyer deck will make tricks easyer, i love my mgp deck and the weight isnt are to get used to at all.

why the razor ultra pro?

I don't really know anything about these scooters so would be useful to know and understand the differences and also explain to my son.

At the moment he just has boys at school telling him razors and rubbish and get the mgp, but I think they're just as clueless as me to be honest. I don't want to him to get laughed at for not having the 'in' scooter.

I can see why he wants an MGP Nitro, it's a very flashy scooter and it would totally be cool to him and his friends at school influencing his decision but I'm not sure it is going to be the right fit for him.

Having rode the Nitro myself I know it's going to be "heavy" for a little guy just starting out. I would echo what some of our members have been saying and suggest getting a Razor Ultra Pro "Black Label". It's quite light yet I've seen it withstand riders who are good up to 170 lbs or so. The wheels are metal cores so they'll hold forever for him and look really cool on the scooter to boot.

In the end though, kids shall be kids and he probably has his heart set on a MGP, if so, at least he will grow into it?

Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice guys.

Is the 'nitro extreme' lighter than the 'nitro'?

He tells me it is because of the holes in the deck. But the Black label pro and those custom ones would be lighter still presumably?

Will the crisp scooters coming to UK in Sept be worth waiting for?
