Ever since i was like 7 i have wanted to move to California, and now, after discussing with my girl, she has agreed to move out there when our lease is up on the first of May. For me, Cali is better weather and a new place to be, but most importantly it seems to be the godamn g spot of the American scooter scene.

Now is seems LA is the obvious choice. I know Vista is a bit south of LA and Van Nuys is Northern LA... I can think of a few kids of the top of my head that id like to ride with daily in those area no doubt, but I hear LA is sort of either a shit hole or super super expensive depending on where you end up. I also hear once your there its hard to leave. IÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢m not to worried about the price tag, baby girl and I paid $$$1,500/month for 8 months in DC and then $1,400/month for another 6 months or so... We can cope with that, but from what i see and hear SAN DIAGO is where i would want to be if i could choose anywhere and have there be a bunch of riders. Being near the ocean and many other riders is what is most important to me. Also, we have a kid so he needs a good safe area and a good safe school...

But....

How many riders are there in the immediate SD area (30 min or less from)?
How long driving is it from SD to LA? like 4 hours right?

If the kids who know cali well or live there could also answer these questions that would be dope sauce....

Where are you from? How many minutes from LA is it? How many minutes from SD?
If you could move to anywhere in California (that has at least 5-10 riders nearby and was less then 30 min from the ocean) where would it be? Why?
I know LA has a tun of great street riding, and a shit load of public parks in the city and then down on the water in long beach and shit... Does SD also have a good park scene and good street riding? I assume yes...

Whose pumped to shred with me this spring? Oh man i cant wait to get out there and be able to shred daily with other ridersÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?â??Ã?¦ Let me know where you think is best

John Radtke lives in LA area along with Tanner Markely Hector Cavonos

LA is more the 1500 a month.

I live in riverside and i pay 1700 month for my place.

I own SR.
I live in North County San Diego. I am about 30-45 minutes north of downtown, the airport, OB, PB, etc. I am about 2 hours south of LA. You should really look at a map of SD first because you will notice there are 2 major freeways. The I-5 and the I-15. Both go south to downtown but the I-15 goes north inland into Riverside and San Bernadino where as the I-5 goes north through Orange County and then into LA so depending on what part of the county you move to you will have easier access to certain areas. I live in Vista right in between the 5 and the 15 so it is just as easy to get to either one.

Depending on how big a place you get you can expect to pay about the same for rent although you should be able to find it for a little less cause that seems fairly steep.

There is street everywhere in so cal you just have to know where to look and you can find some really epic spots. The park scene kind of sucks mainly because the state of CA does not have insurance for scooters so it is pretty hit or miss. There are a lot of parks and you can usually get away with riding them but not all of them. For the most part though anywhere you want to ride is fine.

SD is clean, pretty, safe and cheaper than the shit hole they call Los Angeles. I would never live there if my life depended on it and I avoid that city at all costs. Nothing beats SD and if I had the opportunity to move anywhere I would stay right where I am.

my grandparents lives in LA and i go and visit alot and i have a scooter out there soo ill probably start going to some parks next time i visit

honestly if you want to live in LA your pretty much moving to northern mexico/africa
when i went to school and i was one of the 5 white kids in my grade
if you move to san clemente it is the beach but its expensive, it has the nicest area ive been to, it has a shit load of local riders, a lot of great parks right next to it
it is probably the nicest place for you from wut u are looking for
i only pay 900 a month for my house and its fucken nice lol but we have lived there for 15 years so they never raised the price
but yea san clemente is where you should go
its between LA and San Diego
LA to san diego is 2:30hrs
i live about 10-15 min north of cental LA

Honestly andrew without sounding gay i would like nothing more in the world to live 10 min from you, and all the SD riders, plus only 2 hours from all the LA crew is fine. And yeah i googled mapped the area...

I see that I-15 turn into Rout 163 to go strait threw downtown and that I5 goes starit threw both downotown LA and downtown San diego, so it seems like maybe Norther San Diego is perfect. Whats traffic like on 163 compared to 5 durrign rushhour? Are you looking at the same sort of back up as most Interstates or Highways that go threw major cities? We lived off the toll road outside DC and between 4-6:30 and 7-9 in the morning there was hella traffic and the commute into the city to work was a nightmare... If we were to geta plac ein saySera Mesa or Linda Vista area, what kind of commute woudl we be looking at the work in the city? And if traffic is horrible does it clog up all the way into that marine air station....? And i knwo im askign a tun of question but last few things...

What is the public transit like in and out of SD and how far out does it reach as far as metro access without using busses?
And, in the town you live andrew, would you say its fair to say it has a safe, suburn feel with availible condos and nice apartments and a sort of new, shar...supburb feel with alot of expensive houeses and real estate? If you wouldnt recommend the exact town you live in which would you thats nearby to you?
And lastly, how many minutes to the beach in that area (grantville, serra mesa)????? and whats the beach like, very nice?

And lastly, off the top of your head and just an estamite, how many riders would you say are within 45 min from SD?

I know you aren't exactly thinking about it, but you might wanna at least check out nor cal in the san francisco bay area.
Its 6 hours away from LA so its not the worst drive in the world. Theres tons of riders, ( so cal admittedly has way more but i can name 30 off the top of my head in norcal ) good parks, good street, but housing and stuff is relatively expensive. Its guaranteed a great place for you to raise a family too, extremeley safe minus oakland and a few other spots and some of the best schools in the nation. Warm summers that don't kill you and winters without snow and a relatively low amount of rain. You can get to really good snow and ski resorts in about 4 hours depending on where you live. We have really good "herbs" too if ur still into that. No one ban me for that. i'm just letting him know.
I'm just throwing this out there so that you know nor cal could be a serious option too. hit me up if you have any questions.

no i know my brother i feel you and if it wasnÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢t for the scootering North Cal would be where i would be, hands down. I have a friend in Humboldt who goes to school there and she has done a good job of painting the north cal picture for me and it sounds like one of the greatest places in the world. Great people, weather, perfect beach ,seasons, some staaank, plus liberal law system. Also I love the country, im a huge disc golfer and north cal you can get away....

I would move there but SO cal is just so much happening and so much to be had. I think i will eventually end of in No Cal but first i want to see what San Diego has to offer me. But spencer.... I will make the ride up and ride with you and the north cal crew next spring i promise you.... And i expect you to have some great tobacco for us to enjoy. :)

Traffic in SD is nothing compared to most big cities but it does exist. The 163 is usually a good alternative route and the YMCA where the SD comp is at is right off the 163.

Public transit isn't the greatest in North County just because everything is so spread out but they did just finish building a brand new train system connecting all the inland cities to the coast and there is buses and such.

The city of Vista has been ranked top 10 best places to raise a family and it has the best climate in the Northern Hemisphere... literally. All the other surrounding cities are nice too but nothing tops Vista and I don't plan on leaving.

SD beaches aren't like OC and LA beaches. They are kind of patchy some are rocky and a lot of them have cliffs and bluffs but the surf is world class. There are plenty of sandy beaches too just not the same.

I would say there are around 100 riders within 45 minutes.

Probably at some point over the next three or four months i will fly out there... We should ride and get drinks somewhere Andrew, IÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢d love a tour of the SD area and Vista .

So i guess the only other question is does anyone know of a nice place that may be opening up in the spring? Ha...

yeah...The google search is "Property management + area code" or "rent in area code" The thought was maybe someone who rides parents or relatives rent a nice place... Long shot your right no doubt.

If your trying to ride with a good amount of people then SD really isn't where you want to be, theres probably 3 main dedicated riders there, Andrew being one of them. San Clemente is really nice, basically dead center between SD and LA, amazing park, whole city is within like 2 miles of the beach. The city is known to have "Worlds best Climate" Its pretty much an average of 70 degrees ALL year. The only problem here would be price probably. You can find a really nice condo or something in North SC like 3 bedroom for about $2000 or something smaller for probably $1800. But theres good parks, really amazing scenery, people are nice, great place to raise a family and everything is really close together. Plus Julio the street beast is here.
