haha this is pretty funny thing, maybe you guys know it but who doesnt know.
http://download.npr.org/anon.npr-mp3/atc/atc_teenbuzz.mp3 this is about 20 hertz .. my parrents couldnt hear that but i did.. its pretty funny, my parrents didnt believe about it, they thought im jacking them or something that lol.. try yourself, call your parrents. its not about age its a bout how you hear.. if you parrents got ultramegaleethax superman ears.. usage of this is that you can put this as your mobile ringing, the teachers wont hear it lol.. also bad hearing classmates wont

Should have put this in the things not worthy of a thread but worth posting thread...

i can hear it, i have like super ears, i can tell if TVs are on when im on a different floor of my house and stuff, its weird.

I hate that sound, it's kinda like this sound that the thread was made for, and no one in my family ever can hear it. The tv's at our school are really loud like that, it's annoying.

I also can hear it, I play music much so my hearing is better. There's no way that sound is 20hz, 20 hz is a frequency of 20 hits a second and that thing was some high swirling buzzing.

me too. also, i can tell if someone is moving or if someones in the room from the sound getting different. hard to explain, because its werid. and i cant sleep if there a tv on in the house. like anywhwew in ther house.

Yeah i know what you mean, i can weird stuff in my house all the time so when im home alone i get freaked out. I cant sleep without a TV on though, weird stuff.

i hate it now at school because everyone has that sound on their phones and they play it in lessons but the teachers can't hear it so don't do anything

Yeah, i can hear it too. Its just like with the TV. Long time ago i heard my old subwoofer buzzing around all nights, so now i've switched it totally off. After starting doing that, i've started to hear that my old radio has ultrasound too, even if it's switched OFF. I haven't used it for a long time, so it's unplugged. My new $2448 YAMAHA stereo reciever has no ultrasound when switched off, i love it.

EDIT: Haha, wave your hands in front of the speakers when listening the mp3 in that link, the sound will deform.

i jst listened to that, and if you cant hear that go get your ears checked, lol. thats nothing like a tv.

and i heard about that ring tone thing. i think its a rip off.

Same here lol. Anybody who would want to have that as their ringtone is mentally fucked up. To think about a classroom where that annoying noise starts and stops frequently every 5 seconds...I would probably turn emo or throw myself off a bridge or something!

I dont really have anything to back this up other than saying i read this somewhere which i did, but as you get older you cant hear some things that you could in your teens, such as this noise... if your that curious try it on one of your parents.
