Canon T2i Rebel Eos 550d

J SWEETS

I'M CB!
What do you guys think of this camera? I'm really considering going after it, since my scoot is all good and nice. I know some people dont like hddslr cameras. buttt i want some other opinions.

I have a canon T1i and a canon HV40. I have filmed with both of them and in my opinion I hate filming with a DSLR unless you are willing to buy a filming kit for it. They are incredibly difficult and frusterating to film with besides tripod shots.

NO!

If your going to buy a DSLR for video, get a 60D, 7D or 5D. The T2i is way too light and flimsy, plus it makes the jello effect on the CMOS censors 10X worse. And you may be thinking, "Well its the same quality as the 60D and 7D." But its totally not, the 60D is slightly more expensive, but has a wider range of controls like the 7D. It also has a much bigger/durable body, a much much much better LCD screen that flips out, (and its perfect if your shooting fish on a handle with a focus wheel) PLUS the LCD screen is lined up the same way as the 7D and 5D so you can use view finders that mount to the camera. (Like the Z-Finder for example) You'll get a much steadier shot if your shooting long lens with a mounted viewfinder.

If your going to shoot with a DSLR, you cant go cheap.

and Jonah, he's talking about the T2i, the T1i video feature was seriously just canon testing the waters.

I got it and i show you good and bad things about the 550d:

+Focus manually (its also bad, cauz you wont film with auto focus, cauz there is this fu**** noise)
+Its cheaper than most other camcorders.
+Full HD and 50p by 1280x720 (i think)
+You got a SD card, thats better than P2 cards or cassets

-Handling is not the best
-You ll need XGrip or sthg if you wanna film scoot or skate.
-You ll need a fisheye lens

So, most guys sad that the 550d is the best film DSLR, but yeah go to your photoshop and test it.

I'm pretty sure Brock knows what magic lantern is. I'm guessing he meant they COME WITH the controls instead of having to mod the camera.

But anyway, if you're not going to get really into filming, then you really shouldn't get a dSLR, because they can get very expensive, and you can't go cheap with them. I'd recommend a Canon Vixia SD card camera.
