getting two ten inch blitzes 400rms each in a ported box soon for $60. might pull em out and put in two 10" pioneer champions. most people are going to tell you MTX or Kicker if you want "some" bass and Kenwood/Kicker/Polk/JL/Fosgate if you want a lot of bass. Sticking to tens in my car because I have a small trunk but whatever, once I get a new job I'll be getting my subs together and shit.

A friend of mine has MTX thunders, they're alright. My boy nono has pioneer champions and they hit hardddd. but he spent $600+ on everything. Ryan's subs are like 200RMS each and they still hit pretty good.

You get what you pay for, pretty much. Just make sure you get a ported box, or they'll sound beat. More RMS = More bass, don't pay attention to peak wattage. During testing it could hit 1300w once in a lifetime and the rest of the time be around 200w and they'll put the peak as 1300. RMS is what you want to pay attention to. for the record, sonicelectronix.com always has good deals and ebay is your best friend when trying to buy subs. you can get low-end pioneers for $40/ea and they're $90/ea in Walmart.

If you're looking into buying a whole kit, don't. Unless it's from sonicelectronix. Most kits (like MTX kits) have beat amps and they always blow. You can get MTX kits that don't even come with an amp for around $150-200 on ebay, they come with everything but the amp that way you can decide how much wattage you want them to put out.

im only looking at subs and head units atm, theres some pretty sweet deals on dual subs with active enclosures, just dont know if the amps they come with will be good enough, also do they take much power out your battery? thats what im worried about, as for head units i dont care just a cheap one with a 3.5mm input for ipod, might be able to get a ripspeed one with flip out screen though, would be cool

also anyone know anything about T1 audio or edge?

what you think about that or is it just shit and im a noob, all im looking for is bass and for it to be loud and deep hahaa

that site is bullshitting you, the 10" ones are only 1000w. and i'm almost positive that's peak. they'll hit but they won't hit THAT hard. i didn't even realize you were UK, no idea what any good subwoofer sites are for there.

as for head units, kenwood or pioneer. personally i'd pick kenwood. i snagged a cheap pioneer one and i've had a few problems with it shorting, but it's nig rigged right now hahaha.

you said "loud and deep." 10" can be louder than 12" subs but generally they won't be deeper. stick to well known companies. i've never even heard of t1 or whatever.

Polk, JL, Audiobahn, Rockford Fosgate, Pioneer, Kenwood, MTX, Kicker, and Alpine are all well known and popular. The rest on that site are like ehhhh.

generally get an amp that will supply 500w+ MORE than the combined RMS of your subs, and just tune it down a little. Menace is a really popular amp brand. The 3000w amp is sooo good.

Avoid Sony. They suck. End of story.

@Bennett you'll need an amp, even if you only get speakers and no sub.

Any amp will work as long as the RMS output matches the RMS of the sub, which in your case would be 1,000. Like I said, Menace makes good amps. Pioneer makes amps, as well, so you could stick with the brand. Or Rockford Fosgate makes pretty decent ones.

ehh not really unless you blast your music. they'll have a more crisp sound, but it's not really noticeable unless you generally listen to loud music. and you'll need a separate amp for those, if not, they'll sound pretty cheapy/crappy. stick to pioneer, kenwood, or infinity reference. infinitys are REALLY nice and can be found pretty cheap, check em.

if i were to get 2 of those subs, would i need another amp? also what do ohms have to do with it?

should really rename this thread to joe riley teaches charliemein about car audio

you'd still get one amp but need a stronger one. pretty much ALL amps are stable at four ohms, but the longer lasting ones are also stable at two ohms. since your subs will be four ohms it doesn't matter much.

as for amps, for two subs and when your main priority is for them to hit hard, you should get a mono amp. prices range on these, but if you're gonna get two subs, you'll need something that can handle an RMS rating of 2000 and preferably higher.

this is how it would be wired.

edit- anyway just picked up two 400 rms blitz audio 10s, buying an amp in a few days and getting my wiring kit when that gets here. swa666
