Cutting fork for baby scs

I got a Lucky L&S Fork in the mail, and I need to cut it for my Baby SCS. There's already a starnut installed, what should I push the starnut in further with? I don't wanna end up making it crooked haha. Also, the store says i should trim the fork .5" but should I trim a bit more than that?

Use a 5/16ths socket and a hammer
the socket fits right over the threads and makes it an even hit for the starnut flanges

My LS fork fit baby knucks with no cutting so you should check first, but if not put it in the scs and just eyeball about how much you should cut off and go a little below that so there is compression space. And do what Rob said and knock down the starnut with a socket.

put the starnut just a BIT too far, fml.
gonna go to a bike shop, and have them install a new one.
