Happiness > previous album

Screams improved
Lyrics improved (though the intro of strawberry swisher pt.1 made me lol)
Bass line improved

Plus they've created their own subgenre so they don't sound like every other post-hardcore band.

they played two happiness songs here in seattle
amazing. didn't get to meet kurt cause he was in the bar, but i met will and matt.

except strawberry swisher pt. 1.

i can't get into that song.

"please girl stay till the early morning
we can have some coffee
you can do my laundry"

figured i'd post and say that there were things about this album i didn't like at first but definitely grew on me.

favorite songs:

carl barker and happiness.

this band got so much better lyrically too, while still having some random lyrics/song titles. I think this album is better than the self titled. downtown battle mountain is the best release by them IMO, but they keep getting better with the new members of the band at creating music i love haha.

october 13, stoked!

pretty big bump, but in reply to dibbs concert poster two posts up, I went to that show and imo dance gavin dance blew. i love them also, in my opinion each album has gotten worse since downtown battle mountain but i still loved the deathstar album, the latest not so much.

i was surprised by the show though, I saw emarosa back in about march and they BLEW, then at their show with DGD emarosa killed it, playing their old stuff and I was pleasantly surprised to hear them finally come together as a band, including jonny being able to scream.

oh, and tides of man are one of my favorite bands now.

i hated emarosa with jonny, anyway i liked the EP more than the regular albums, something about that sound i just loved, but the only album that i can say i didnt enjoy too much was happiness, some of it was ok but not enough screams and stuff, but jon mess's new screams are kinda odd, and i love them

seeing dance gavin dance tomorrow live.
i am BEYOND stoked for this show. they have grown to be one of my favorite bands. Just looked on youtube a little while ago and a show they played really recently didn't have their screamer (Jon Mess), and one of the comments said he has Lyme disease. I hope he is better for tomorrow.

edit:
now i read that he may be out of the band? damn.

edit 2:

Original members Jon Mess and Eric Lodge left Dance Gavin Dance immediately following the recording of the upcoming untitled release. Will Swan is currently screaming in lieu of Jon Mess, and Jason Ellis (formerly of Five Minute Ride) has taken Eric Lodge's place on bass duties. This information was confirmed on July 10th, when Dance Gavin Dance posted a bulletin about their current lineup, addressing rumors of Zach Elizondo joining the band. Only two original members (Will Swan and Matt Mingus) remain in the band at this time. According to a statement by Kurt Travis on a youtube video added on July 11th, Jon Mess had to quit this recent tour with A Static Lullaby and others due to illness from lyme disease. It is unsure if he is permanently out of the band at this time. The band has recently taken Jon Mess' name off of their purevolume page; raising more suspicion that Jon and the band have gone their separate ways.
that was a very long post that i couldnt even be botherd reading hahaha
