Dear companies, I know this sounds crazy...

But you could easily save yourself and the consumers of your products a good amount of cash by simply cutting out the unnecessary things you're doing to parts. Phoenix does this a lot. How much would a phoenix deck cost without getting the P cut out or any laser etching done?

The proto Orion deck also does this but in an entirely different way. Sure it looks better than a plain sheet of metal, but the headtube looks like a ridiculous amount of laser etching. That can't be too cheap. Although the design could mostly be from getting the metal ground/cut out of the headtube, and not actually etched in. In this case, nevermind.

Phoenix wheels too. ... Why put your logo on a wheel? It's like this big its not like people see it when riding anyway. All I'm saying is scooters can do without the fancy engravings and what not because in the end, it IS a scooter part, not a trophy.

Thoughts?

This is what I first thought when I saw the Orion and Phoenix deck. Proto is the worst about this. They absolutely HAVE to have the little spoked wheel thing on EVERY product they make. There aren't that many parts out there. We know one when we see it. We don't need anything telling us who made it, and we don't need anything to make it look cool.

Andrew contradicted himself. He said it wasn't gonna be expensive to make, but the deck is $250.

Yeah that pissed me off quite a bit. Just cause he has good ideas doesn't mean he needs to sell them at the highest prices in the industry.

im pretty sure andrew owns his cnc machine so it doesent cost any extra money, i KNOW phoenix doesent and i pretty sure lucky doesent, and i know that eagle does

i can understand that you think like that
but it is like an advertisment for the company like when a lil kid sees a nice deck and it wants it the kid knows that proto is good
know what i mean?

Andrew owns at least one cnc machine. But half the time with these types of things it's an easy way to make money. The integrated phoenixes probably cost like 70 cents more to make, yet little kids go nuts over the "p" and whatnot which makes it easier to sell at a higher price.

The best company at this by far is TSI. They don't do any of this. I'd much rather see some wee like stickers instead of the gay phoenix laser etch on the headtube.

To be honest I think all scooter parts are ridiculously overpriced. I mean take bars for example, there is no way it costs anywhere near $70 to buy two bits of tubing and weld them together.

yeah bars are overpriced, but one of the reasons there so expensive is because its ahard to weld good welds.
