Death Grip

I've known this for a while, but my friend just brought it up again the other day. when I ride, my arms are super stiff and I grip the hell out of my bars. I don't know why, but I feel like I'm just gonna completely lose my grip in mid air if I hold any less. Basically I control the scooter more with my arms rather than just riding on it, and it takes its toll lol. Anyone else do this? Any advice on stopping it, or shouldn't I bother trying to change it?

Is it causing any problems like wearing through grips fast? If not then I would say don't worry too much about it.

Ryno beat me to it, but it is called arm pump. It's every motocrosser's enemy. 15 minutes into a 20 minute moto and I'm dying from it.
They did studies to prove it's from not breathing enough. You need to breathe more to properly get bloodthrough your body. I know it's weird, but it's just adrenaline taking over and a lack of air as a consequence.

It's not arm pump, it's the way I ride lol. I ride dirt bikes too, I know arm pump very well. This isn't the same, it's just the fact that I hold on too damn hard. I tried to loosen up and it never really feels safe, I always feel like the bars are just gonna slip out of my hands (I have reeeeally sweaty hands when I ride). Apart from my fingers, it really doesn't cause too many problems (I have tendonitis in my left arm so that's to be expected though), it's a style killer though according to my friend, apparently he can physically see that my upper body is way too tight when I ride lol.

I know what you mean cause i always used to give my mate shit because he death gripped while riding his Bmx. He always twisted his hands alot so he wore throught grips real fast. Try to relax more maby by putting on some chill music and you might be able to stop it.

Yeahh, just kick back.
And flow with your tricks and shit.
Keep equal weight everywhere until you basically feel weightless.

These Fly Rubens are holding up super well though despite my death grip, I've been riding them for like 4 months now and only a couple of the little nubs have chunked off.

its might be because your bars arent the right size and your uncomfortable with them maybe try smaller or bigger bars?
