Ok so lately people have been putting bmx pedal pins into their decks for more traction. Alot of people have been asking questions so i decided that id be nice and take pics of the process. I decided that late though (after i had it marked up) but you still get it. It is a basic concept of drilling holes in your deck, a little smaller than the thread size of the bmx pins (1/8 drill bit), and screwing pins in. The pins will thread themselves because they are steel and the deck is aluminum. Here are the steps.
what you will need
hammer
nail/hole punch
scooter deck
pedal pins
a drill
1/8 drill bit
sharpie/other marking tool
ruler/tape measure
common sense
CAUTION-YOU WILL NEED THE COMMON SENSE FOR ALL STEPS, DO NOT ATTEMPT IF YOU HAVE NONE!
step 1
for the first step you will need the ruler and the sharpie, in this step you will mark where the pins are going to be placed. I put them towards the middle of the deck because i am getting square reinforcements. So, i made a straight line down the deck so i would know where to put the dots, i measured the dots 1 1/2 apart, you can do however much you want depending on the amount of pins you want in the deck, this way requires 18.
step 2
For this step you will need a hammer and a nail/hole punch. Take the nail and put it in the center of one of the dots you made. Tap the nail until it leaves an impression so your drill bit will stay center. Repeat
step 3
For this step you will need a the drill and the drill bit. Put the drill bit in the impression you made with the nail, press the button and drill through the top of the deck. Repeat
step 4
For this step you will need a wrench for the type of pins that you have, mine are socket head so i used a screwdriver with a socket on it. All you need to do line the pins up with the holes and thread them in.
(if you are putting grip tape on (reccomended), you will need to put the grip tape on after step 3. When it is on find the holes in your deck and cut the grip tape away in that spot with an exacto knife or razor blade. After the holes are in your grip tape then you can go to step 4. There will be pictures of this step when my grip tape comes in.)
got my grip tape in =) so heres the rest
step 5
When you get your grip tape, put in on over the holes in your deck. Cut it to shape with a razor blade, move on
step 6
When you have finished putting your grip tape on, get a nail, find the holes that you drilled, and poke through them, repeat
step 7
Go around the outside of the holes with a razor blade to get the eccess grip tape off.
step 8 []/b]
Start to screw the pins in and tighten them down.
after this you are ready to ride! enjoy your pins.. i love mine
