If you use square reinforcements you need spacers inside of the reinforcements so that they don't collapse when you tighten the axle down.

i put 2 extra bolts in the middle of my reinforcements just to make sure it would b snug and flush against the deck, but not all the way threw the deck (not 2 solid bolts, but 4 smaller lighter allen head bolts), just drilled and tapped it and used allen head bolts off a new A foldy i had.

use, aluminum or steel strips, alot easiter to make, cut, mount, and alot lighter, if you wanna keep the weight down a little, cheaper materials, if I'm not mistaken for some reason I think the is 3/4 wide x 1/8 thick x 4ft long thats what you'll wanna get if your making them. Your could also play with the thickness, but I'm not sure if it comes thicker, I'm think off he top of my head but I'm pretty sure thats it.

i just slapped on some square reinforements, they're light, strong, and fairly cheap/easy to make, and according to feed back ive been hearing , they will last quite some time
