I support Travis' theory on the basis that I put a wheel in the oven the other day and the PU melted.

In arizona, The chalking in the cracks of ashault melts and sometimes your wheel will like get stuck in it and make you fall. I wonder what it's made of.. Could be close to the same as urethane.

I have had the same Proto wheels for well over a year. Here in Georgia, we see anywhere from 20's to 100's of degrees Fahrenheit. Environment could be a factor, but I have ridden in both extremes with no problems.

i believe this is true. i used to break wheels alot when i lived in florida, but i dont realy have wheel problems anymore. i think the heat has alot to do with it, but it can also make your wheels stronger, if you bomb hills and shit.

That would make sense because I bomb hills all the time, like basically every time I ride, and I've never had wheel problems. I mean my driveway at home is basically a hill bomb and my dorm at college is at the bottom of a few hill bombs. And I live in NC which gets pretty damn hot all of the time.
