Ovalization is the only thing you can't see. just rotate the wheel, try to flex the urethane out, if it doesn't move its not dehubbing.
Bearings tend to make chuffing noises too so watch out for shot bearings.
if you're really paranoid do what i did with my pro model wheels. just line around the core and the urethane with a bead of LIQUID no gel bullshit and let it seep in. made my wheels last an extra 3-4 weeks.
To be honest though you really shouldn't be worrying about dehubbing vertx full cores. They are super super legit and their wheels can back up the customer service. Literally been riding the same 100mm FIRST GENERATION wheel (which are worse) for about 7 months, and its the best street wheel i've ever owned.

My grippers started to dehub like a week after I got them, but they never actually did. Unless you're suuuuuper sketchy, you'll be fine riding with them for a while. Vertx urethane is really really hard, so it's almost impossible for it to slip off the core.

This. Been riding my 1st gen 100mm black urethane full cores since August and they're worn down and have glass slices, all my fault. Super legit wheels.
