i am making a dirt scooter out of a pro model deck with a razor a5 headtube and wanted to cut the deck and weld to metal bars to hold the back wheel. what would be the strongest and lightest metal to use?

Yes it is aluminum. And if you don't know welding aluminum is completely different than weldeing chromoly steel (bars).

Dude...just stop. You don't just decide to weld a few aluminum parts together. Seriously bad things are about to happen. Leave it be and wait for companies to produce them. Produce your own ONLY if you are an experienced fab guy. Not a guy in a garage with a welder... an experienced fabricator.

Not trying to be a dick, but it is way more complicated than you think. Judging by the way you explained it, you should really just wait for a real dirt scoot to come out.

I would just start from a custom foundation, a deck you designed yourself. Don't just decide to make a project out of something that wasn't engineered for that kind of stress. There is no "cheap" way of doing this kind of project, you are going to spend money on materials and there is no garuntee that it will be right the first time.

You will not be successful in creating a fully functioning, strong dirt scooter by yourself. If you do, and if it holds up, I will send you 5 dollars through paypal.
