welding old bars to the outside of an old cut deck is not good engineering. If you really know what you are doing then design one and make one. Im working on one now.

thats probably what i'll end up doing.

You do not understand the amount of research and development needed for this. You have to get the length and width to balance out well, headtube angle correct, neck tube length correct, good welds, heat treat...etc. Seriously if anyone could just sit on their back porch and make an awesome deck with their welder, then people would. But it's not that simple. You try to fab something together there is a good chance you WILL get hurt.
