DNC - vs - RNC

I own SR.
If any of you followed these I would like to know what you think.

DNC: I thought Obama's speech was incredibly well done, however, it just sounded like a lot of big talk and nothing more. His wife's speech was also well done and she seems like she would be a good first lady even though first ladies don't do anything. I missed Biden speak so maybe someone can fill me in.

RNC: Sarah Palin rocked Obama hard. That's all I have to say. McCain's speech was a little disappointing I thought though.

I will add more later. Discuss.

anyway andrew, I thought both speeches, although well written and slightly convincing to most likely the average american, I personally think this election is similar to the school mascot election in south park. We have to decide between a Douche Bag and a Turd Sandwich... basically we have to pick the lesser of two evils.

wtf is up witht he american election all the voting and shit takes years in Aus it al happens over like two days and that is the whole country votes coutned and decision announced i know yo have alo moer people but seriously its bs

the general election itself is one day.

the primaries, in which the 2 major parties pick their candidates, are spread out over a couple months since most states hold their elections at different times. even in australia are sure there are months and months of campaigning, i doubt it's really that different.

i don't hate the government, i just realize that is has some serious flaws. in addition to that, politicians are some of the most corrupt people in our society. it's basically an unending problem that politicians by nature are in place to help the people, but in reality the desire to be a politician (for the most part) comes out of a need for power. the people that actually just want to help others usually have no desire to be a politican.

Australia is about a 1/10 the size of the U.S. and elections take time... but yes, just about everything in our government takes way too much time. I'm not entirely sure why though since only about 18% of our people vote because the other 82% are too stupid to see that they are giving up their number one and most important right in this country by not voting.

I'm just going to post my opinions in here instead of my other thread because that was way too much writing,

DNC - I watched obama's speech, i thought it was extremely inspirational and a flat out great speech.

RNC - I didn't watch any full speeches but I saw many clips.

Republicans went out firing at Obama but didn't really mention a real plan, Obama needs to fire back, there's a lot he can get them on.

You are automatically biased if you did not watch both conventions in their entirety. I agree that Obama's speech was amazing but it was nothing more than charismatic talk. No different that the Republicans.

Honestly neither party knows what to do because whoever gets elected is going to spend the next 4 years trying up clean up Bush's mess. They are just making a bunch of promises like all politicians do to get elected but their "plan" after winning is going to be nothing more than improvising to make it look like they are accomplishing something in this mess. Hopefully whoever wins can bring "CHANGE" but I'm not expecting a whole lot from either party.

No matter who gets elected, I don't think much is going to get done. Mostly just because we have to get things back to normal.
