Dank is a real word and it really means "unpleasantly moist or humid". Anything other than that is slang... which is just about every other way people use it.

^^ haha i knew that definition first, and when i started hearing ppl say dank all the time i was like wtf.

my mom told me that when she was in grade school they asked everyone to white a word that describes a cave or cavern. she wrote "dark" but brought the r down to far making "dank", the perfect word to describe a cave. so she accidentally got herself a shitload of extra credit or somthing.
