dying wheels

DONT dye wheels. i had two quality wheels and i dyed them. one, 1/3 of the urethane came off after it was almost dehubbed (weakened from the heat of the dye) and the other one chunked. my advice is to NOT dye the urethane and it doesnt matter if you dye the core or not it will not affect the riding. i hope someone hears this...

My friends are still riding wheels I dyed in March. My brother is riding an Agent Orange I dyed towards mid 2008. You're doing it wrong.

_____

In summary: Dye urethane. Paint cores.

Yea your doing it wrong buddy. Because i started this like along time ago and i have never dehubbed a wheel in my life.

no... i am pretty sure its from the heat. i took them out after 36 hours (possibly over exposure in the water made it weak) and it was 10:30 at night and i rode em the next day

Haw haw.

The reason they turned black is cause you DIDNT READ ABOUT IT PROPERLY. You're supposed to keep checking on them until they're the shade you want them. If you want a light shade you leave it in for a shorter amount of time, although with this the dye will wear away quicker. Darker shades take longer and last longer.
