---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3rd annual Extreme Battle was held again on 24-26th August, in Tartu (south-Estonia).
This time EB become the first Estonian scooter competition where the comp was held with runs. Last year they only did the best-trick, but this year each rider had 2 solo runs in qualifications.

Whole trip started from Taevaskoja
My and Egon's trip started on 23rd August when we drove to Taevaskoja, a really beautiful place. We were invited for the 2nd year in a row into a youth camp to introduce our 3 main activities that we do in our MTÃ?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â?? Lahe Idee (non-profit organisation "Cool Idea"). For return we got lots of positive energy and we got to ride full-sized scooters all by ourselves, so the two of us went to the forest to cruise across some nice views and downhills etc. Was really fun.

More information and pics of our trip to Taevaskoja, can be found here (in Estonian only).

After the camp we went to Tartu
At the same time when we were doing our program at the youth camp - Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar, Erki and Juku went to the port to pick up Helmeri Pirinen from Helsinki, Finland. He was on his first scooter trip to aboard. Four of them were taken to the bus-station by Juku's mom where they went on a bus and travelled 2,5h to Tartu. Me and Egon went from Taevaskoja straight to Tartu between 5PM and 6PM, said hello to my grandparents, dropped some things and Egon drove to downtown to pick up 4 dudes from the bus-station.

When they arrived at my grandparents' place, we set up our tents and then we went to cruise all over Tartu. First thing we went through a couple of hardware stores to get Helmeri some bolts and nuts for the folding mechanism because he didn't knew ANYTHING about modding scooters and never has done it. So his Estonian trip taught him a little bit about modding and about the needs of modifications. After getting bolts from the hardware store, we (me, Egon, Erki, Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar, Juku and Helmeri) cruised to downtown to have a look at the Extreme Battle's obstacles. Before getting to the old town (where EB was held) we went to a street ledge where we stayed like for 30 minutes to get a few clips for Helmeri's video. We were hoping to get registered at the same night but the lounge was just closed and nobody wasn't allowed to any obstacles anyway anymore. We were kinda late but so what. We saw parkour and mototrial demos. After the demos we went to my grandparents' place outside, grilled some beef and chicken, ate tomatoes and pickles and drank Tanhaiser rootbeer.

Next day - let's rumble
All the scooter events were moved to 25th August, instead of having them on 25th and 26th. There were scooter race qualifications and finals, and scooter best-trick qualification runs and best-trick comp itself. The miniskatepark kinda sucked, because instead of the roll-in there could have been a ditch and instead of a vertwall there could have been some simple quarter with a bigger radius. But it was hella fun anyway. Erti joined with the six of us - he stayed at his relative's house with his mom. Also a new guy, Matthias Agur, who i had talked to only via MSN, he came to EB too but he dissapeared for the finals (probably because he had to take the bus early to home). Also Andreas joined with us, but he didn't ride at the event because he had sprained his ankle like a month before the event.

The race track was soooo sketchy. 2005's and 2006's tracks were 3-4 times longer and had LOTS of obstacles on it, but this year they were short of time and because of that the track only had 3 jumps and a flat 180-degree turn to right, which was the baddest news for all of us. Last time there was a 14ft tall quarter made for a 180-degree right-turn. Still anything this year was ridable and we still had fun.

Some accidents here and there
Each rider had 2 solo runs for the race qualifications and their time was measured with electronic devices. Everybody did pretty well, times were around 16-18 seconds, i was the only one who had cleared the runs with 15 point something. Best BMXer had done his run with 13 secs, so 15 secs for a scooter is pretty good i guess. Scooter race qualifications went pretty well except for Egon's crash at the last U-turn to right that we all hated. I was very glad that this time Egon didn't broke his fingers, unlike last year.

Now there was a stupid situation in the first semifinals. Me, Helmeri, Erti and Erki were at the start and Erkis nerves blew off and he stole the start. Helmeri and Erti started at the right moment and i was staring at the whole situation, waiting the "false start" to shout out, but suddenly when those three were like 10ft in front of me, i suddenly realised that it won't be shout out so i jumped down the ditch and tried to catch them. Before the 1st curve, Erki slowed down so others could pass him because he had compunctions about stealing the start. But when braking he fell instead. Fortunately, nobody ran into him. I caught up Erti, finished second, after Helmeri.

The second semifinal with Egon, Juku and Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar went pretty well without any major crashes. Juku and Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar made it to the finals but when Helmeri, me, Juku and Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar got to the start, it was announced that Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar got disqualified because he did more than 2 steps of running aside his scooter after the last U-turn. Egon got into the finals instead of Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar. Egon later added that the finals' olympic system sucks really hard because Erti would have deserved the place in the finals.

The final run was very-very cool and ittence. Everybody's start was accurate and nobody had stolen. Helmeri ran into me when i was doing my last U-turn but he couldn't rip himself in front of me still.

Best-trick comp's qualification runs and the final contest
This year best-trick was organised with qualification runs, which made EB the first Estonian comp that has runs included for scooters. Everybody's runs were great, everybody has their own so diffirent styles. Qualification judges were Egon and Andreas who didn't ride at the best trick comp.

Erki, Erti, Helmeri, Matthias and I got into the finals, but Mattias had dissapeared for the finals and probably went home. A lot of hammers were pulled in the finals. Erki tried 540 taps and 360 taps to fakies. Erti did a briflip over the funbox. Helmeri pulled a tailwhip to FS lipslide to opposite whip out, which won the contest. Later he tried opposite 360 heelwhip transfers but didn't land it. I did a boardstall barspin (on the edge of the rail's beginning) to 180 doublewhip out. I also did a opposite tailwhip rewind and later i tried quad tailwhip transfers like 20 times but i always had missed only like 4-5 inches from catching the deck before landing. Anyway, hammers were cool and everybody were very satisfied with the comp :)

After our scooter competitions - chilling and riding on BMX/MTB freestyle track
After the finals we could chill and with a little gang we decided to visit the BMX/MTB freestyle track which had a 14ft tall roll-in, two 7ft tall flyboxes (1st one longer, 2nd shorter) and a 11ft tall quarter at the end. I went big and cleared those boxes, other scooterists used those flyboxes as flyouts because they said it too terrifying to try to clear those. Erti tried double briflips. Helmeri also tried various stuff. I jumped over the first box and landed 360s over the second flybox 5 times - two of them were a bit overrotated because big flyboxes need really slow rotation. Fortunately i didn't fall hard. Rewarding ceremonial was held when it got dark.

Going to my grandparents' place
After the rewarding ceremonial it started raining so we didn't want to cruise back to my grandparents' place with scooters. Luckily, Egon had went to my grandparents' place between scooter race finals and best trick final comp, changed his clothes and came back with his car instead with his scooter. We (me, Egon, Erki, Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar, Juku and Helmeri went to the mall, bought some food and then went home. Only 5 people could sit in the car so we put Erki into the trunk, bwahahaha.

01.jpg

Erki in the trunk when driving back to my grandparent's place

03.jpg

The evening went pretty good. We ate what we bought from the mall. Helmeri ate a cold pizza, haha. We could use the sauna and at midnight we all watched "Transit Scooter Tour" DVD, "RVM3" and we showed Helmeri some Estonian videos too.

The next day - afterJAM in the local outdoor park
On the next day we put our tents together, packed our things, thanked my grandparents for great hospitality and great saune, and we drove to the bus station (to check some evening buses) and then right after that we went to the outdoor park. This time Erki refused to go into the trunk, so instead of him we put Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar into it. I lol'd.

04.jpg

Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar in the trunk before riding to the local outdoor skatepark

We went to the bus station to find out some suitable buses for Juku and Helmeri so they could go to Tallinn and Helmeri would arrive to the port right on time before his ship leaves the port.
After buying some tickets for them we went to the local outdoor park and jammed there a bit. I personally didn't ride there that much. I found myself pushing other's limits because none of the Estonian riders had dropped into 12ft vertramps except me. I encouraged them and showed them so many times, floating in vert and a bit over the coping. After 40 minutes of laying eggs, Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar (who has major issues about being scared of heights) dropped in. I had dropped my jaw because i never expected him to drop in because of his fobias even though i encouraged him the most. After that Erti dropped in and later on Helmeri also, who is a actually a street rider. A little later Erki dropped down also. Everybody got some new experience and i had proven that dropping into verts is just like dropping into regular quarterpipes.

After that i went to the park, tried 360 the big flybox there, but its kicker was so shitty (there was no smooth tranny between the kicker's beginning and pavement) and my scooter flew away from my hands every time i tried 360s.

After a couple of hours of jam, we said bye to Juku and Helmeri and Egon drove them to the bus station. After dropping them off Egon came back to take me, Erti, Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar and Erki to the old town.

Back in downtown
When we arrived back near the EB tracks, we dropped everyone off. Erti went to ride EB tracks but Egon, Erki, Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar and I went to a place called "Taverna", where we filled out stomachs with pizzas. After that we ride an hour on BMX/MTB freestyle track. I landed a few 360s over the second box again and before I, Erki, Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??llar and Egon had to start going home, i tried to 360 the first flybox too, but on the first attempt my scooter flew away from my hands and i landed on the flat top. The speed when launching out of the kicker was sooo big, that it made 360s so complicated and i had to rotate myself realllly slow. On second attempt i did a overrotated 360 over the flat top and i fell pretty badly. I had enough and so we went home, doing a stop at a little skatepark which was on the road to Tallinn.

It was an amazing trip :)

Well, it took A LOT.

First i wrote all that in Estonian language and published it on toukeratas.com site first (estonian scooter site).

Finding the pics from several online albums took hours and i discovered some new albums even a week or two later after i had published on the estonian site.
Plus resizing and editing the colors.
Plus several walls of texts.

And now when i found some time to publish it on SR, i had to:
+ translate
+ re-comment all pics
+ had to replace HTML code with BB-code.

But it's worth it :)
