They should make it TDI so you can swap out the deckplate:)
Yeah, I dunno. I think PROTO's got a patent on that, but they might be able to work something out. That's why only they made SCSs for a while, then the patent expired and everyone else could make them.

Proto's aim is to make other companies use their designs to move forward the deck etc. industry. They WANT companies like TSI to use TDI.

Andrew Brousard said in the introduction to TDI Debut video something along the lines of

"We have finally eliminated the need and added expense of the welding process, while being able to offer a deck system capable of being any width, any length any angle that rider requires that cost less to manufacture, will be fully compatible with all manufactures who choose to adopt TDI technology.

Proto wants people to adopt tdi technology. Not because they would get more money, but because Andrew thinks it would be most beneficial to the sport.

And burnzkid, I don't think they patented the scs. Patents last more than two and a half years. I think that everyone just didn't admit that the scs was the best compression system, so they tried to do other things like hic, ics, whatever blunt and maddgear did, and then phoenix's thread lock compression.

The patent never went through, hence why SCSs said "Pat. Pend." on the bottom of the first versions.

Things that SHOULD be adopted are TDI and IHC.
