Fighting SPAM

Ok so after someone posted in the new forum section, i noticed the spam on here is a lot worse than I though. Sell your stuff section seems to get hit the most. I just was in there for about a half hour banning and deleting posts.

I just enabled some service on here that will scan new users posts for their first 10 posts with some sevices (typepad) list. If any words match the list, the post will be submitted to moderators to be deleted or posted if it was a false positive.

If you guys see any spam, please just click on the user name, hit statistics, find all post by user, check the box at the top and delete (physically remove option) their posts. Ban them also if you please, but chances are if that account was used to spam with already it won't be logged into again.

edit: I also just changed the sign up captcha system to reCaptcha, which is newer and better, hopefully this stops the spammers from even signing up.

Brian, all you have to do is select the entire thread, choose "delete as spam" and there's an option to ban the user and delete all his other posts. That's an easy way to get rid of stuff faster.

Alright. Hopefully the new captcha and spam system prevents any of the bots from posting now though.
