Flairs

I know there were thousand threads about them but I got specific problem. Basically every flair tutorial says that, before i go for flair i must have backflip on lock. I landed my first (and only) flip like half year ago and haven't even rode a flybox since that time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuF4hHN5xQo is that really big problem?

Only thing im scared is hitting quarter with head or overrotate and faceplant. I'm planning my flair on this miniramp, how do you think, should I use the extended quarter or the normal one?

Any other tips?

i'd say use the extension, it's easier to learn on a medium sized ramp at first before taking it to smaller or bigger ramps.

It's good to have backflips dialled but isn't necessary, personally I'd just huck the flair if you're feeling confident enough.

what I normally do is hit the coping, and pull my bars back as hard as possible and dip my shoulder.

Thanks man, i hope that will help me.
I think that confidence is not a problem, when i decided to throw a flip to wood, i pulled it first time, i just don't really like doing them.
