flat spots

okay iv been reading a few posts and it says to get rid of a flat sopit in a wheel you just rideround on it alot?
i would like to know if this is true or not?

yea i used to have a small flat spot in my micro metalcore and after riding for like a week it was hardly noticable anymore

Ride down a fairly long hill with your foot lightly on the brake. That should even it out.

I put the wheel in an old set of forks and hold it up to the bench grinder.

put it on a wood or metal lathe and sand or watever it back until the flatspots fully gone
does the job everytime for me
