So I was recently promoted to Moderator on the largest gaming forum in the world, and with in a fucking month the site has been torn apart by two members, both of whom troll, flame, and have made the site owner cancel the site payments, cancel the chat, and shut down the site (in the near future)... So Rob, Dustin, and all the staff here, How the fuck do you keep SR running so smoothly?

I really hope more people on here look at it like you do. Everyone on here criticises and disagrees with what we do, but when you try to be a serious mod its not as easy as people think.

I am just really bummed that 4 freaking members managed to take down a whole site with 26 THOUSAND members (12,000 active), Just kinda makes me sad, I had 3 weeks of moderating, we worked our asses off yet the whole site has gone to shit.

I really dont expect many members on here at all to feel what I feel, But I know that Rob and the staff here would feel the same way if they had to sell/close SR

Dude I actually love you. You have first hand experience and you can therefore comment respectfully on what being a mod is like. It is not just ban some people, close some threads. There is so much more to it. All of your actions on the forum have consequences, and you have to think through each choice you make. You can't just ban someone because they piss you off (Jona <3), you have to have legit reasonings and think about what will come after. This forum is relatively small so there isn't such a threat of trolls here, therefore we can't comment so much on your situation.

People really need to take note of your stories and realise that moderating is not all dandy, it's bloody hard work, but we do it to help the community grow in a positive way. As a mod, people don't tend to respect your decisions so it is hard to enforce rules effectively. Whereas people have more respect for admins.

I respect you so much dude for actually understanding how being a mod works, and I hope you get BOF sorted.

EDIT: Ignore the bit about this forum being small, it has the same amount of active members as BOF.

SR is also just a great community in general, gaming forums don't usually have the nicest, outdoorsy, or people friendly people on them... Makes the job alot worse

So 1mo bump but a nice little update:

I was banned for "No Reason Specified" by one of the mods, but upon me notifying it was changed to such, before it read "Upon a long discussion we have decided that..."

Stupid fuck didn't even check before banning the 3rd most liked member on the site

So my current options are to either accept full re-enstatement or shut down the full site... what should I do?

I just wrote the staff a nice little essay, Made one of them leave the site permanently, and the others I have no idea about

I just found someone who can take down the whole site for $10... haha
