I'm not trying to start a bitchfest but I think it's good if the number of "scooter kids" in parks are controlled.
I understand where you're coming from: Scooters do allow for a much younger rider to ride in a skate park messing with the Flow of a Skate park.
Unfortunately some kids are just better at it than others at a younger age. My son is by no means a super skilled rider on the edge of a sponsorship but he is a superb rider for his age- he should be I take him there all the friggin' time :0
Anyhoo... I wouldn't want his access restricted because of a "Limit" imposed on him/us just because he rides a Scooter.
If there was an Age requirement I guess I would be more accepting of a restriction as it would apply to everyone- even Skateboard kids. But as it stands right now there are NO restrictions for Skateboard riders.
If I lived in San Clemente I would be one furious Father and be one hell of a pest to City Council. I count my blessings since I'm only a couple miles from a decent park in Culver City for daily sessions, Belvedere in East LA is relatively close, Long Beach isn't too bad and once it gets below 95˚ in Santa Clarita we can ride out there again- although that is 80 mile round trip session ... $$ in my gas hog truck.
Culver City has a park monitor who enforces helmets and what I really like about that is they enforce it on anyone who goes in the park- even parents who like to helicopter around their little 5-6 yr old who is snaking everyone's line, adding to the stereotypes of scooter kids ruining the Skate parks.
