From threaded to threadless...

Im going to get a threadless headset on my threaded jdbug

Its cheap,threadless and sealed

Now my question is i use the top locknut but the bottom bearing race on my jd bug forks do i need it or do i take it off,then do the forks just solt into the bearings or something?

Take the race off and replace it with the one that comes with the headset.
