another scenario would be that we but and HD cam which is 1000 more but he said it wouldn't matter because the TVs in the class room aren't HD so it would be a waste

I'd go for a Panasonic DVX100B or a Sony VX2100 if i were your teacher. Don't buy ebay packages, the stuff in the bundles are junk. Get everything from BHphoto and read reviews on whatever you are looking at.

i would so love to get a panasonic but my teacher is a complete idiot when i comes to cameras and wont buy any panasonics because apparently to him they're cheap

which doesnt makes sense to me because the Discovery channel uses a cam similar to the DVX100B on Dirty Jobs and Deadliest Catch

DVX is seriously the easiest camera to setup if you aren't used to gl2. GL2 has a horrible menu layout. I really hate the things. I dont know what is on Canon's mind when they make video cameras.

I <3 that place. It's 5 minutes from my house. They cleaned my baby death for free. Dust got in between the elements, so I didn't wanna risk messin around with it, dropped it off their, they called me up 2 days later with it ready to go. Didn't charge me a penny.
