They're "sacred." They aren't meant to be worn, they're meant to be held while praying or hung somewhere religious. Sometimes people put them on gravestones. Wearing them is considered disrespect toward God.

I'm not religious, but wearing them not only makes you stupid but it's disrespect toward your own religion. Which makes you look like a shit head.
