Well great!!....I have heard this type of stuff about Proto before but didnt realize they were that bad. If thats the case, i have no respect for a company who does business like that.
I try to handle things professionally and dont go posting things about manufacturing defects on forums until i talk to the company. But if i am dealing with a company that does business like this, i guess i will have to handle things differently. I guess i will have to post pictures and make threads all over the internet until they do something about it.
So for those wondering...i just spent $250 on a brand new Proto Orion combo and the holes for the brake are drilled in the wrong spot and the brake doesnt fit, it rubs the wheel all the way up.....bad.
There is no easy fix for this since the brake mounting holes are off about 3/16" and there is no good way to drill new holes because they would be too close to the other holes. Plus the whole point is that i shouldnt have to hack up, drill holes, and cobble shit up on brand new deck.
I guess if Proto wants to do business like this, i will be handling this in a much different way...they arent dealing with some kid here who cant do anything about it...they are dealing with a 29 man who runs a sucessful welding business. I have the time/money to take this as far as needed.
It really pisses me off that there are companys out there that do business like this!

When i drilled the holes for my switchblade it rubbed so bad on my wheels i couldn't ride 10 feet without stoping. I just bent the brake up a bit. If you do it right by heating it up and bending slowly you don't compromise the structural integrity all that much, although i had to bend mine up due to a mistake i made. Its weird that your orion came like that.

Thats what i would do but there is no way to bend it more to make it clear...the initial sharp bend at the bottom of the brake is even touching the wheel...so the whole assembly needs to move forward.

Monday through Friday, 9-5. PST.

Andrew's a really busy guy, he's always working on new stuff and I'm not sure who monitors the email account but I'm assuming they don't have the time to check it considering only a handful of people work at the shop. Call them and you'll get everything sorted out. Proto isn't as bad as the last few posters make them seem, I've never met anyone who's gotten a messed up order and they haven't fixed it.

You're welcome. Like I said, Andrew's a good guy, he's just always busy.

YOU spell out the word you.

He's older and more mature than 99% of this forum, you wonder why this place is full of idiots and then you make stupid posts like this. YOU grow up a little and be a good example for new members that join the forum and this place won't be such a shit hole filled with post whores and trolls. If you aren't going to help the OP, then stay out of this thread.
