How to air?

At my local park we have a 5 1/2ft half pipe, I can go over the coping but I have trouble with landing them, Most of the time I'll land either on the back of my deck or clip my wheel. Can someone give me some advice on how to not hit my wheel on the coping. Thanks!

Pull Back earlier, spot your landing and as you are on your way down, push your arms forward so your scooter is flush with the transition and you should roll away. Looking stylish too ;)

bend the Knee's and keep hitting it over and over and over and over and over and over and practice and practice and practice and practice and practice and practice and practice and practice and practice and practice. the more you practice the more comfortable u will feel in the air, and the higher u will b able to go. it takes time tho dont expect to booost like Stanio after a couple days.

Mark, don't jump so early. Let the quarter do most of the work. I'll try to explain it next time we're both at blackrock.

if you jump to early and to hard you will land at the bottom of the ramp, so dont do that! just get heaps of speed and only jump a little bit when you feel your front wheel hit the coping, then just practice your landing over and over again then you'll be BOSS! lulz

No ----- smartass, when you launch use the coping to shoot you in the air
It matters what the ramp is like if its over vert you jump off before the coping if its a small ramp thats not that steep its good to use the coping. But it also depends on if the coping is out more.
When you air out try to jump at a angle instead of straight up and down so you do not clip.
Look at my video if you want I air alot in it so it might help.

i think he is asking for help on coming down, and is asking for tips on NOT hitting the coping. so using the coping to not hit the coping is stupid. unless u mean by hitting the coping on the way up it helps u and makes u land smoother and more "flush" wit the ramp, which makes sense, and it also makes a cool sound :D ahah

i LOVEEEE that feeling of hearing ur wheels roll on the ground then the transition to the ramp then, BOOMP! followed by the silence of u being in the air, then landing and rolling away. once u learn and start airing like 4-5 feet then it gets more fun

Hey guys, whenever I air vert ramps I pretty much land on flat and die. Any tips to actually stay on the transition? Happens ever more with whips airs.

yea it seems the higher the quarter the less u hop. like just coast off the lip/top and just get more speed.

You need to be off the ramp like a foot before the coping if the ramp is over vert so it doesnt pop you out and land flat like you were saying.
Its kinda like a mix bewteen a pump and jump when you air off the ramp but it takes alot more stregth to air out on vert.

How about whip airs? I used to be able to whip air at/above coping but now I can't even get close, I just immediately lose it as soon as I throw it. I think I kinda need to turn more before I throw the whip, if I remember correctly that's how I learned them the first time. I hate losing tricks.

Build your way up the ramp, to feel more comfortable, and make sure you stay with the ramp,
