Nick, usually if your back wheel is in front, you're going backwards.
Tweak the deck around, like scooter fakie style but with both feet on. Im not sure if thats a hurricane or not though. In skateboarding, a hurricane is a 180 to fakie feeble grind to 180 out. So i assume its the same for scooters, but me and Greg were talking about it like 2 weeks ago at edison and he says its that thing where the scooters fakie and your not. Im sticking with my way because thats what i've been calling hurricanes for awhile.

jump on a rail and as you're getting on the rail, turn your deck 180, and hold it out til the end, and 180 out. thats a hurricane. i do them all the time.

im working on some (nameless?) trick that is basically a 360 hurricane. you do a hurricane and once ur going sliding backwards pop the scooter into a fakie smith then slide out 180 into a normal smith. sorry if you dont understand what im trying to say, its hard to explain.
