I know some people have been making completely idiotic hate threads, but I'd like this to be a well discussed thread. You don't have to agree with anything I'm saying and whether you like Lil Wayne, try to back up what your saying. If anything gets out of hand i'd like to ask that you please lock it

Ok, so as we all know, Lil Wayne is one of our current day hip hop/rap phenomenons. I buy into the "gangsta rap" like snoop, dre, eazy, and them, but I try to give the New Rap a chance. People say his freestyle sucks, but thats not what im on about. . To me, he is talking very slowly with a beat behind him, and his lyrics aren't all that great. Sometimes people go on to say about how he has "metaphors in his song". I believe most people here could write a decent metaphor for a rap song. I think hes popularity comes from his reputation, and if he wasn't so advertised by everything, and it was only his songs alone, a lot less people would listen to him.

lil wayne isn't good as an lyricist at all. He makes songs that are good for radio and clubs. The people that listen to him like his swag, and think he's cool and what not. So dont go sayin you hate somebody just cause they make bad songs. You dont gotta listen to it. Let the people like him who like him, that goes both ways. those lyrics right there.... I'm not trying to be a dick, but I could write that myself. So maybe he does have some decent lyrics.... but I don't see the consistency. So lets just say even if all his lyrics are good.... but he talks? Imagine someone standing on stage at a small club with a high pitch voice slightly chanting their poem that they had just written that night. They are talking over a nicely produced beat, and some guy makes it sound all nice for the public to hear, And it gets sooooo much more rep than the good stuff. Thats just what I think

i'm not gonna lie when it comes to consistency he hasn't been too hot with the carter 3, but seriously almost every artist puts out a weaker album at some point in their career

btw i'm not trying to say he's like the greatest rapper ever because he definitely isn't, IMO the roots, eazy e, and gangstarr are/were some of the best out there but i'm just sick of people listening to lollipop and some shit songs from tha carter 3 and then saying everything is terrible
