why the hell do you have so many matchbooks? lol.
My mom used to take a matchbook from every resteraunt she went to like 20 years ago and they all added up!

you've got a good eye for photography.

just keep shooting, read some articles on composition/lighting and you'll be getting some better stuff soon.

the last one is not very good at all. the ones of just random stuff arent either. sorry. i do like the first one though. it would be nicer if you used the rule of thirds , and got closer though

do what sean said that will help

Yeah well i'm new i was just testing out my camera, like those pictures were shot in like 2 days. I have no clue about all that composition --- i just try and shoot stuff that i see like other people take but like different. Thanks anyway Sean.

I think shoot manual without your flash. It ruins it in some of them, especially the last one.

ya on pic 6, it would be better is you didnt have your flash out cause of the hot spot on the bush. Dont use the pop up flash wen its dark.

Ok thanks. How do i get the background to not be blurry cuz i put it on the setting with the person and the star in the background. Which setting should i use for the slow shutter shots?

You know the booklet that came with your D-40? Well, read some of that. In manual mode (M on the dial), you get two numbers on the screen, the left is shutter speed I'm pretty sure, right is aperture. Turn the dial to change shutter speed, and hold the button next to the info button behind the wheel while turning the dial to change the aperture. Just play around in manual mode for like a day and you'll find out tons of things. The booklet helps a bit too.

Wow, for 2 weeks you've got some beauties :)
But, you've been shooting for 2 weeks, and you have a d40?
Sounds like a bit of overkill there.

Other than that, the spiderweb on the grass is beautiful.
Welcome to the world of photography :)

now ur next thing you need to get for an upgrade is a flash vivitar 285

Why exactly that flash...?
Yes, its cheap, and is from what Ryan Young says, a good flash, but why so specific?
You could've said, maybe the next upgrade is an external flash?

maybe next upgrade is learn to shoot right.

no need to start buying stuff when you don't even know how to use the camera right yet.
