Read the first three words of my first post.
I ride because it's fun. Where my parts come from doesn't concern me in the slightest, only how they feel.
Edit: I also don't care about where the sport goes. Scootering is not my life. It's a hobby. A sport I do for fun. It's something to burn some cash on and enjoy doing with my friends. I do competitions here and there but again, it's not the basis of my life.
I don't care what corporations come in to make a buck or what companies go down the shitter
it really doesn't concern me.
Hobbies are part of life and a huge thing people forget to have. People are so wrapped up in technology and other worldy distractions they forget that the purpose of life is no purpose other than to try to be good to others and go have fun. Hobbies
ARE EXPRESSION. They're IMPORTANT. I could name so many "buddies" I have that have zero interests, just people, technology, TV/games and maybe weed. They have nothing that defines them and they aren't as happy as they could be. If I have a hobby that I need materials to make the hobby necessary, I want to be able to take it as far as
I want to take it. I want the materials that appeal most to
ME. I want the most efficient materials that consider my demands
because it fucking makes sense. Corporations
KILL competition, and competition MAKES THINGS BETTER/CUSTOMIZABLE/MORE APPEALING TO THE CONSUMERS constant demands for improvement and customization. When a new company with great ideas and products surfaces, they can easily just be drowned out by the flood of advertisement, cheap prices, and a bandwagon of already established consumers using their product.
i dont care as long as they're good parts. shit could come from a multi million dollar company in it for profits or the backyard welder who makes shit in his spare time
as long as it is good to ride.
But you should know that corporations aren't trying to make
good parts, they're trying to make semi-decent parts as cheaply and abundantly as possible with a vague set of specs that loosely appeals to as many people as they possibly can to make as much money as the possibly can. They don't give a shit about the wants or needs of their riders, just so long as their shit keeps getting bought. Now that's not a bad thing for people who just want to ride, because sure, the parts are ride-able and affordable, but what about those who want to be passionate about their hobby? Those who want to push the sport to its limits and create their riding tool so it best suits their style? They don't get a chance, because small business and huge corp rarely coexist, and now I HAVE to buy the corporate product because the small company with really good parts can't establish a reputation and ultimately goes out of business. If corporations and small rider-owned companies could simultaneously exist, then I see no problem and it's almost as simple as the way you word it, but the FACT is that these monopolistic corporations limit the spread of ideas and growth. I can't get better parts/materials because monopolies are prohibiting them from ever being produced to start with. Think how TSI ALMOST WASN'T A SCOOTER COMPANY because it couldn't face competition. Monopolies are almost NEVER a good thing. Outer example: Doesn't anyone else think the iPod is bullshit? Literally almost no other mp3 competitor exists because of apple's patents and solidified rep as THEE mp3 salesmen. So I have to pay 200 dollars for a rectangle that: only has 8gb memory, no room for sd cards, incredibly restricted and limiting interface, forced compatibilities and so on...yet that's the only decent mp3 player I can buy so I probably end up buying it. Bullshit.
I also don't care about where the sport goes. Scootering is not my life. It's a hobby. A sport I do for fun.
You don't have to want the sport to blowup, or become more developed, or get more popular to care about its riders. It's the bigger picture. The fact that it's your hobby shows you think its important to have fun, and the growth of the sport is more about the growth of choice and fun that the riders can be given. People can keep making bank, the rider population can drop, the subject can be unspoken of, but people enjoying themselves to the maximum, that I think is important.
