Keith Zadig - New Scooter (question)

What's up everyone!

It's Keith Zadig here and if any of you remember me, I used to ride all the time and make videos. Although I've been very distant from the scooter community, I'm definitely interested in getting involved again since it was something I truly loved. I live in Kennesaw, GA and this dope skatepark opened called Swift Cantrell park so I really wanna ride this summer.

On the other hand - a lot has changed from what I can tell and have no clue where to start about getting a new scooter. If you all could respond and take me to the right direction about best parts, brands, scooters, etc. that would be awesome!

Let me know

-Keith

Reventons or threshold decks, tilt headset, tilt fork, tilt scs or some hic, heptrons or klaars or pretty much what ever bars u want, what ever grips, and protos or river wheels.

get 3m griptape instead of hellagrip, it's water/mud/life/everything proof and lasts forever because it's not sandpaper based.
but otherwise i have no idea what kind of riding you're looking to do. Flippy doos and whatnot - get an envy
street/cruise/rails - get phoenix or tsi

What Josh said.
Proto (especially wheels, river's are good too but I hate spokes),
Tilt (especially scs),
TSI (especially deck).

-would recommend TSI deck, bars, and fork for strength (Proto bars are still pretty tight though. TSI Thomcat forks own all however),
-Tilt scs for reliable compression (6mm bolts versus the standard 5mm, while lighter than many compressions)
-Proto wheels for wheels that don't suck (or Rivers if you're cool with spokes) since the scooter industry hasn't mastered wheels yet.
-Tsi/Tilt/good bike brand integrated headset (gonna need integrated with any good deck, odyssey would be a good bmx brand but many wanna keep it scooters, so tilt/tsi are decent. I opted for tilt)
-Grip tape (I say fuck getting "scooter tape" buy some MOB or some hardware tape or some shit, cheaper that way, but whatevs)

I know who you are, (Glad you realized you still love to ride! Seems to be a theme popping up here and there with older riders, including myself. Passionate hobbies are life's key. Welcome back!) but don't know how long you've been gone.

-Decks got longer, a LOT of people are ENJOYING riding 21-22 inch decks that own them. Confirming that because it seems like a bit of a leap. 21-21.5 would be safe. 22 is too long for some.
-Decks got integrated, no more threadless headsets
- SCS became the standard compression to hold forks and bars together because it's the strongest. No slit in the bars, no threads on the forks. This means ICS, HIC, are pretty obsolete. HIC is a thing, but again, lacking strength.
-Some parts get heat treated now. Higher end aluminum decks are treated, but TSI and Proto heat treat their chromo parts for strength as well. Another reason to buy their bars/forks.
-100mm wheels are pointless. 110 makes for more clearance, and faster

Support the good companies that make parts that last! Sure they're twice as expensive, but could possibly last you an eternity. We need those businesses to survive because they take the rider's needs and desires into account. They allow for options as opposed to forced monopolies that will pushy shitty cheap parts that never fully allow you to ride the way you want!

Hope all of this made your understanding a lot more wholesome! Will take the time to reply to any question you may have.
