so new york city has decided to gas and shoot up around 2000 geese surrounding the airport.

i really dont want to hear your opinion, i just want you to know about it. (about the geese that is)
im reading around no one seems to give a shit yet its just fucked up like jesus christ

we have the best kind of land for them here marshes and ponds and shit
its NOT their fault they should have to die for soemthingthey didnt do
and you cant hunt in new york and i doubt theyre going to sell them to eat, they couldnt put dogs to scare them away? so they have to land else where?
also theyre killing the babies.. and theyre oiling the eggs so the eggs die.

im with my mom on this onei hope the world goes to hell b/c humans are worthless

they did try moving them, they said, but it made the problem worse, geese cause a lot more damage than companies are willing to advertise...... but i believe the geese came first not the jet.

i really just have an issue with outright murder.
no lets get some natural predators or any shit like that, just gas them and go.

As a pilot and a person who enjoys life, I'd rather the geese around the airport die instead of getting sucked into one of my turbines and killing it and everyone aboard my plane. And corporations guys? Seriously? It's aviation safety 1-0-fucking-1. Animals, especially birds are the most dangerous things to planes. You guys can complain all you want but if they hadn't done this I bet 95% of you would be wishing they had if you were on a plane at that airport and a bird decided to play chicken with your flight.

I was actually just about to cover Kyle's point. Because its a really good one. Geese flying in the middle of a plane taking off or landing can be ridic dangerous.

True. But when you can fly on the back of a goose from NY to Tokyo, Japan in 18 hours you let me know and I will blow up my own plane.

alright listen.

margaret you really have no idea how much the goose population is out of control. i know it seems messed up and cruel but we are talking about HUMAN LIVES here benefiting from this and it actually helps with the goose population problem. around here i've seen farmers crops picked dry by geese because theres so many of them and they're not letting hunters shoot enough of them. killing 2000 wont matter at all. and like i said before its helping prevent further freak accidents like the plane that had to land in the hudson.

To be fair i'd rather have them moved on / killed if they were causing potential death to 200 - 300 innocent people.

I'm not sure how much damage a goose would do to a turbine in an engine, but from what Kyper said it sounds alot.

When I was first learning how to fly I was at about the 20 hours of flight time mark and still very inexperienced and on one of my landings with my instructor an owl clipped the propeller of my plane. Of course the owl got killed but it completely destroyed the propeller and we had to make an emergency landing at a nearby grass strip runway. The propeller was literally almost bent backwards and we had only just clipped the owl and propellers are a lot stronger then the blades of a turbine. A turbine is a very very simple engine design. Several blades at different angles of attack rotating at a high velocity via power from the engine. However, if one blade is altered in the slight movement the blades will started to work in a very uncoordinated manner thus making the engine useless. And planes with more then one engine have that for a reason. They need more then one to stay airborne. That shit you see in Top Gun where one of the pilots looses an engine and still flies great? Possible but incredibly hard. Usually can only be done with military fighter jets since they're inherently unstable and need computers to stay airborne. A commercial plane will not be able to do that. You are going down and there's not much you can do about it.
