Some sort of plastic could be pretty nice ;)
My dads a plastic welder, and i just talked it over with him and the go would be aboout 5mm thick nylon.

helll no, that shit would flex OD. you'd needa use like Lexan plastic or something.

probably some hardcore 5 or 6mm thick graphite would work too. the graphite used in aftermarket rc cars. just a thought
pretty good idea that

Carbon fiber! but that would be hella expensive. fiberglass would also work, but both would be nice because they can be molded into whatever shape for various concave options.

I plan on widening one of my deck plates pretty soon. I've got a few different materials, I'll post the results when I finally make something.

What does the addes height feel like though? I have a ton of 1/4" lexan but that would raise the deck height. Guess I might as well try it and see, I have like 5 feet of it.

Sorry for the mega-bump, but i have something I thought that would be very appropiate for this thread.

I've had this idea for a while but I just put it to action last weekend. I used one of my brother's oldddd skatedecks, hence the stickers and dirtyness. I had to get longer deck hardware because the wood was a lot thicker than the aluminum plate. It's 5.5 inches wide, and on a kukk cruiser frame. The weight is real close to the stock plate, at least from what I could tell, I didnt weigh it or anything. The concave is so gnarly on it, and the added width is nice (to me). This is the widest deck that I know of so far...

Here's a couple pics in comparison with the stock 5.0 plate:

...and a couple of it on my scooter:

Let me know what you think.

it is very comfy.

I want to find out what to use to round the edges like on a skate deck though. that would make it a lot nicer.

Mario, that's awesome. I never thought of the concave and strength of a skate deck on a scooter. You ride it yet?
