I guess it's good if you want to grow up sickly and malnourished..?
From what? Lack of BHT and TBHQ? Preservatives in meat increase your chance of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.
Vegetarians are 40% less likely to die from cancer and 20% less likely to die from other diseases such as heart disease, high cholesterol, and clogged arteries. Since meat has high cholesterol, it increases your chances of having a heart attack or stroke.
Almost 40% of all grain in the world is fed to livestock. It takes 5 lb of grain to feed a cow and make 1 lb of beef. It's a waste. Also, one acre of land could produce 50,000 pounds of tomatoes, 40,000 pounds of potatoes, 30,000 pounds of carrots or just 250 pounds of beef.
Kathy Freston, of AlterNet, conducted a study to show what would happen if the world went vegetarian for one whole day. In her study, she found that the world would save 100 billion gallons of water, 1.5 billion pounds of crops, 70 million gallons of gas, and 3 million acres of land. One interesting statistic shows that if everyone skipped one meal of chicken per week, the carbon dioxide savings would be equivalent to taking half a million cars off the road.
All this is taken from an essay I wrote about Vegetarianism.
